With what we see in academia, government, Hollywood, and the press; Joe McCarthy has been completely vindicated and was right all along.

He was largely correct. The fact that he used bully tactics and did seek out to destroy enemies and may not have had the country's interests above his own ambitions do not change the fact.
In particular, Joe and Nixon turned out to be correct about Alger Hiss - a long time "hero" of the left.

It really is odd to be my age.
Growing up with the cold war, we were always taught how terrible Joe McCarthy was.
Fact. There were communists in Hollywood. A lot of communists. Fact. They wanted the current government replaced by communism. Fact. Most of them wanted elections to overturn the government. Fact. They knew people who wanted the violent overthrow of the government.
Even though there were people supporting the violent overthrow of the government, his tactics were considered wrong.
Fast forward to today. With less evidence, the democrats are shrieking worse than McCarthy. With less danger, they are shrieking worse than McCarthy. Hell McCarthy was just a few decades from Communists actually killing people within the US. He had reason to be worried. Face Book advertisements are not equal to dead Americans.
We do live in Bizarro Times. Democrats want censorship and see Russians under every rock. Everything liberals cried about when I was in college,they are now guilty of to a worse degree.
It was only a few over zealous ministers trying to burn books in the 80s. Now we have wide swaths of liberals screaming for government controlled censorship... but of course only if liberals control the government.

You're looking at things in a vacuum. Culture has been manipulated so much since the 50s that communists and socialist can openly espouse their beliefs to cheering crowds
