Could he have though? He has a razor thin majority with a party that can’t decide what’s for lunch without having a knockdown drag out amongst its members.

And yes I know it’s part of his job as Speaker to circle the wagons and bring everyone together but when you were given the job because the first guy got voted out, nobody else liked the other options, and when you’re name came up enough people said “frick it. I guess I can deal with him. Let’s get this over with and done.” You don’t have much political capital or bedrock to sit on and just trying to make it work. It’s almost like an interim coach when the head guy gets fired midseason.

Time to do something about this is during the primaries - get rid of all these fakers. How? The same old RINOs have their districts locked down. We can't gat a speaker with the balls to bring single subject bills to floor...if he could even get them out of committee.

The only way to get it done is to have a charismatic leader who commands a devoted voter base AND gives careful thoughtful well vetted endorsements to make sure the people put in will follow through on the objective.

We have only half of the equation.

A much smaller spending bill Is impossible. Because it means that a lot of corrupt politicians didn't get their little financial perks. If they don't get their share of the spending bill, they'll vote it down.

They force all that bullshite into it...and then go to the public and cry about whoever is against it, is in favor of elderly and veterans not getting paid. Msm promotes those lies...and 10s of millions of idiots become outraged that some politicians want elderly and veterans to not get paid.

In the end, there are levers in place to always ensure the corrupt politicians always get what they want.

For their largest donors that benefit from the pork and ensure reelection.

Meme and Pawpaw in rural SWLA have no idea there is gun confiscation funding in the bill.

I told my grandfather this and he couldn't believe it.

Yet, they get re-elected, by their constituents.

Sounds like the party needs actual leadership at the very top and not a circus tent of influencers and people who have already failed.

Like I said in a thread a few weeks ago:

They’ve got a death grip on their positions and firmly burrowed in with a big enough machine and network at their local level to ensure they’ve got a job for life. Not enough people care about their corrupt ways to vote them out of office because we are by and large a society of short attention spans and complacent attitudes. Some money brought home with some red meat campaign talking points is all it takes for re-election. A country full of people who say “They’re all crooks up there who need to be voted out!!!!…… except my congressman. He actually does a good job.” has totally fricked us.

My argument vs this is that if someone, somewhere were in control, we wouldht have chosen Biden and Trump who both,at the outer limits of human life expentency, as our David and Goliath.

You support this spending bill and want to tax the rich. Just shut up already. You’re compromised.

Not one thing I said was a lie. You are on record supporting this spending bill. You are also on record wanting to tax the rich.

No one on Earth can change this if the reps aren’t able to be held accountable. This is exactly why they refuse to have single subject bills.

You need leadership at the top that can bring people together. Someone who can communicate a vision, unite people behind it.

The GOP is drifting. Its broken.

Graves and Higgins voted against it.

See what I mean about voting record?

He comes out saying Johnson is his brother but votes against his bill because his district will turn on him.

Graves supported McCarthy, who's spending bill was no different than this one.

They are all full of shite.

They had a chance to make the Dems own shutting it down, but they were too greedy.

If the process has started to process Trumps pick yet again (McCarthy bring the OG Trump pick) then be there should be serious questions about his judgment.

Fair enough, but I think most of MAGA and conservatives outside of MAGA were happy with Johnson being named speaker, based on his positions and voting record. He has been an unpleasant surprise so far though.

You have people like McConnell, McCarthy, Ryan, Cantor, Crenshaw etc that don't understand that they are the enemy.
