A good lesson learned? This was national security being talked about on a commercial messaging app. A major freak up.
I haven't read anything that was national security. May be missing it. But still a good lesson learned nonetheless. It shluld seal up a hole on what shouldn't be done anymore.

I have serious doubts that this is true.
Hegseth side stepped the question when the reporter asked so you know it is true. IMO, Trump's worse cabinet pick.

At 11:44 a.m., the account labeled “Pete Hegseth” posted in Signal a “TEAM UPDATE.” I will not quote from this update, or from certain other subsequent texts. The information contained in them, if they had been read by an adversary of the United States, could conceivably have been used to harm American military and intelligence personnel, particularly in the broader Middle East, Central Command’s area of responsibility. What I will say, in order to illustrate the shocking recklessness of this Signal conversation, is that the Hegseth post contained operational details of forthcoming strikes on Yemen, including information about targets, weapons the U.S. would be deploying, and attack sequencing.
Seems harmless!

It’s a bad look. Especially after calling for Lock Her Up and this is using a messaging app. Yikes

Why does any Trump admin have this reporters cell phone number? I’d fire that fricker immediately just for that reason. Too coincidental for
Me. First thing I can find fault with since the inauguration. Guy is a liability and
Needs to go.

I think the real question is why aren’t they using communications through a more secure system?
Adding a cell number to receive top secret comms? Woof.
It’s supposed to be secure, multi-factor auth but only via administered permissions. Great it’s encrypted but you receive encrypted messages by your cell being added

So the info didn't get out there. Chalk it up to lesson learned.
I don't like the signal app convos, but there needs to be a way for this kind of communication. Don't know what that is for these type of govt employees though. Ie what's the "Teams" communication format.

Those lines of communication do exist. It’s 2025 and that tech has existed for at least 15-20 years.
This was just a stupid arse decision on the groups part
Edit: willing to bet Trump gave them an earful this evening

How many top secret group chats have you seen leaked before this?
There are better ways to do it, but when you appoint booze hound TV personalities then you get what you pay for

These are generally lessons you learn before being handed a cabinet position.

Who knows how many weren't covered up when it was done. HRCs bathroom servers is way way worse than this.

Yeah no one has ever added the wrong person in a thread before. And has it been confirmed he was the one who added this reporter? And if it was him was he drinking when he did it?

Sure, when you fill your cabinet with shady lifelong politicians.

BS dude. You’re moving goal posts
This is as bad of a f up. They need to correct how they communicate immediately
Posted on 3/24/25 at 8:45 pm to onepiecemayne
Ya this is what happens when you appoint a bunch of unqualified morons to these type of positions. Shocking, really.

Wouldn't the human thing to do is alert them that he was added by mistake and keep the info private?
Ah, nevermind

I've said this multiple times.
And having a showered server with a shite ton of top secret govt stuff is way worse than this. No goal post being moved.

When you have a certain clearance it’s your responsibility to keep information and data secure. This is fixable and willing to bet they will

Sure. I get that.
It is telling that Goldberg burns a source to make the admin look bad. I'm assuming Waltz, whoever has been in communication with him, needs to be reassigned or dismissed.
