On May 10, 2026, an unknown chemical was sprayed inside a JR East train near Kawasaki Station on the Tokaido Line.
Around 10 passengers were hospitalized with coughing, breathing difficulties, and eye irritation.
This is the first deliberate chemical incident on Japanese public transportation since the 1995 Tokyo subway sarin attack — a gap of 31 years. Inventor Lee Wheelbarger breaks down everything we know so far about this shocking event.
