I don’t think many are saying the law shouldn’t consider rare cases. I realize some states will have blanket prohibitions. Most won’t. The silly position is to demand the feds take over the lawmaking because a few states don’t consider rare cases. Even sillier would be to bemoan a solid constitutional analysis because you don’t understand what the ruling says.

In an honest Government, everybody on that Committee would be charged with Malfeasance, if not overt Treason and Conspiracy.
The only question re this whole scenario is WHEN the inevitable street fight for power occurs, and how much hurt is inflicted via 'collateral' damage. One thing is for sure, the Left will initiate it (with BS like this 'Committee') and the Right will finally jump in when they see that they are losing everything, to decide where ultimate power rests.
