apply it to both Del Rio and Kaepernick Freedom of speech is protection from the government. If you say something your employer doesn't like, they can discipline you. That has always been true.

This has nothing to do with the 1st amendment. If the team has a written policy and they don’t apply it equally there is basis for a suit. It is quite common.

hopefully he will get a talk show on The Blaze or Outkick or a regular spot on Clay and Buck.... they will cancel him - it's just a matter of time...

Sure he can, just not after he signed a contract that allows his employer to fine him for any public statements.

Team policy doesn't apply if there is a clause in the contract about making public statements.

I'd be shocked if there was anything in there that Del Rio's comments offended.

Comments detrimental to the team. This is easy stuff.

Cuck Del Rio deletes his twitter

What a b*tch he is.

Says something, gets skewered, apologizes, gets fined, now deletes his twitter.

Perhaps we should all follow suit.

Ok. And neither of us know the verbiage of either the contract or any policy, so it’s all conjecture. I am just saying there could be an avenue for litigation. It won’t happen. He wants to stay on and keep on getting contracts.

Perhaps you shouldn’t be so cocky about how easy this stuff is. They really don’t want to go that route if they have any concern about litigation (which I doubt they do). Can you guess why that would be a bad route of litigation is a concern? This stuff is easy, right?

He should quit his job with the NFL and then he can say whatever he wants.

So it's okay for players to kneel for the National Anthem and protest on work time, but it's not okay for Jack Del Rio to call out the hypocrisy of the BLM Riots vs. January 6?

If he had any balls he’d tell the NFL to frick off and quit. You aren’t gonna silence me.

"I just asked a simple question. Let’s get right down to it," Del Rio said Wednesday. "What did I ask? A simple question. Why are we not looking into those things — if we’re going to talk about it — why are we not looking into those things? Because it’s kind of hard for me to say, I can realistically look at it, I see the images on TV. People’s livelihoods are being destroyed, businesses are being burned down, no problem.

"And then we have a dust-up at the Capitol. Nothing burned down. And we’re going to make that a major deal. I just think it’s kind of two standards. And if we apply the same standard, and we’re going to be reasonable with each other, let's have a discussion. That's all it was. Let's have a discussion."

Is this the comment that got him in hot water?

Can't believe you can't disagree with the left in this country. What happened to the first amendment?

In no way is what he said detrimental to the team. If you believe differently then every player/coach that spoke up for BLM, kneeled for the anthem, criticized President Trump etc... should have been fined as well, how many were?

Only the Home Depot case. But the point is a conservative is silenced and fined. The HD case nobody was fined or fired

The NAACP is calling for Del Rio's job, the organization's president, Derrick Johnson, terming Del Rio's view "twisted,'' and adding, "You can’t coach a majority Black team while turning your back on the Black community. It’s time for you to pack up and step off the field.” From former Seahawks star Doug Baldwin: "Jack Del Rio is an ignorant, ignorant man. And that is as loving and respectful as I can put it. Protesting against the murder of someone is not the same as attempting a coup because you didn’t get your way in an election. Not saying vandalism is ok but let's not try to pretend these are the same."

Attempted coup. These people annoy me
