I’ve been reading about the green new deal and came across this article.

Institute of energy research.org

It blows my mind how people could support this. This is a fast track to tyranny.

It's funny how every environmental scheme ever is always Marxism....interdasting

quote:

the Select Committee’s detailed national plan would also have the goal “to promote economic and environmental justice and equality.” The draft specifically mentions spending $1 trillion over ten years, in addition to extensive taxes and regulations to steer the economy and society as the 15 committee members see fit.

So basically a 15 member dictatorship for complete central planning of the economy.

These are the parts that are the scariest to me.

It calls for the creation of a 15-member “Select Committee for a Green New Deal” that would “have authority to develop a detailed national, industrial, economic mobilization plan” to make the U.S. economy “greenhouse gas emissions neutral.” As if that weren’t ambitious enough, the Select Committee’s detailed national plan would also have the goal “to promote economic and environmental justice and equality.” The draft specifically mentions spending $1 trillion over ten years, in addition to extensive taxes and regulations to steer the economy and society as the 15 committee members see fit. (To be clear, the draft text currently calls for the creation of the select committee, which in turn is then tasked with drafting legislation forming the “Green New Deal” itself.)

Pulling that [a 45-percent reduction in fossil fuel emissions in 12 years—RPM] off, the [IPCC] report’s summary states in its first sentence, is not possible with singular policies like carbon taxes. Rather, what is needed is “rapid, far-reaching and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society.” By giving the committee a mandate that connects the dots between energy, transportation, housing and construction, as well as health care, living wages, a jobs guarantee, and the urgent imperative to battle racial and gender injustice, the Green New Deal plan would be mapping precisely that kind of far-reaching change. This is not a piecemeal approach that trains a water gun on a blazing fire, but a comprehensive and holistic plan to actually put the fire out. [Naomi Klein.]

The best point he makes is that they themselves understand it's socialism masked as peer-reviewed science. He mentions that nuclear power isn't once mentioned. If these people believed their own B.S. they wouldn't be on the campaign trail raising money for re-election. They would be holed up in meetings talking about actual energy policy and not some social justice "inequity" (normal person translation: disparity) that they've identified.

Seems I've heard of this before, but I just can't put my finger on it.

Begins with a 'V' or maybe an 'S'. Could be something that rhymes with 'borea.'

if AOC thinks it is good then beware. she has a screw loose.
allowing student debt to be erased is a bad move unless everyone else who paid off these loans gets the same deal. this is not doable.
medicare for all a bad deal. see for example how poorly is the VA system.
not having an honest leader is a bad deal too regardless of policy.
so, we are screwed with bernie, aoc, warren and donald. we need better options.

I’m absolutely certain that the Soviet Central Committee would’ve approved this approach.

You realize the no planes/cow fart thing isn't in the bill right?

It could pass and almost nothing would change.

Well then why the frick do it?

Jesus fricking Christ, now tell us how there wouldn't be any incrementalism and the left wouldn't take it and push for more.

You do realize there is literally nothing about cow farts or no planes in this article or in anything I said, right?
