In this era, the majority of americans are stupid and believe this unverified bullcrap just cause the media tells them too. We have to prove them wrong this time. We have to show that this bitch is lying

And 90% of the media will tell them she isn't lying regardless of what happens in a hearing. They will repeat the talking points. Without an honest media, you have to attack this woman.

When the allegation comes out, you go on the offensive. Find out who it comes from, get as much dirt on her as possible via PI's, leak that info to favorable news outlets and reporters. Subpoena her arse to testify and don't bend an inch on her demands. If she refuses, you vote. And finally, let every wavering Republican Senator know their districts will suffer if you vote no. You basically fight fire with fire.
A. That's already going on behind the scenes. Political operatives are already trying to get dirt on her, I can assure you.

B. Subpoena would be ridiculous. Do you know how easily that can be spun and make Republicans look bad?

C. You cannot treat this woman like a politician. Even if you don't believe her, you have to treat her like she's genuine. Treating her harshly will be so easy for the Dems to spin against the Republicans.

It would look absolutely horrific to the general public if Republicans acted like that.

And considering the midterms are coming up, it would be fresh in people's minds.

That way of handling it would be political suicide for the Republicans.

Y'all all need to calm down. This isn't getting delayed past the midterms. That won't happen. Just wait a week, let her testify, both sides will do their spin, and Kavanaugh will be confirmed.

I agree. 85 year old man whose senate career began before my parents were in high school and whose entire political career stretches into eternity. Grassley is the epitome of a career politician. Started that political career in 1959, holy frick

The public needs to shame or vote out all of these damn senior citizens.

I’m sorry, but people 70 years old and up have absolutely no place in the US Congress. Especially ones that have been there for 30 years

I feel the same way about the Presidency. We had two geriatrics running in 2016. I’m sick and tired of this same shitty generation running the country. They’ve been doing it since the 80’s

Which is why this "strategy" is foolish.

You are playing their game, on their terms, with their officials (media), but are somehow expecting "fair" treatment.

This isn't a fricking piece of legislation where you can go home and convince your constituency of the justness of your cause . This is a fricking SCOTUS seat that can help to undo a lot of the bullshite overreach of the FedGov for a generation.

I think it is that flake Flake and the pussies Collins and Murkowski who are demanding all this 'compromise.'

If he cannot control them, it is counterproductive to push this hearing thru and then have them vote him down. and in the process turn over the congress to the DEMs.

It's a bitter pill, but I think we have to trust Grassley.

Anybody who thinks Grassley hasn't handled this brilliantly so far does not really understand politics.

He is winning the PR battle. He is making Ford and her attorneys look like flakes. He is showing he's willing to bend over backwards while still keeping things under control.

It's a PR battle. He cannot be too strong or he will be accused of bullying. The bullying smear the left has been using hasn't stuck because it's so obviously untrue. If Grassley acted so firm like you want him to, it WOULD have looked like bullying and the left's smear would seem credible.

Grassley has handled this perfectly so far because there were many opportunities for the GOP to shoot themselves in the foot. They haven't so far. They've remained open and willing to hearing from her and all of the flakiness so far has fallen on the Dems.

The Democrats were BANKING on the Republicans to attack Ford, act like bullies, and try to ram Kavanaugh through. They haven't fallen for it. They've remained cool.

Because her story is so weak, they have to make her seem like as much of a victim as possible. If Republicans played hardball like you want them to, that would play right into the Democrats' hands to make her seem like more of a sympathetic victim. The fact that the Republicans have bent over backwards for her keeps the focus on her weak story instead of how the Republicans have treated her.

Anyone who thinks Grassley has handled this poorly does not understand politics.

OK but Judge Kavanaugh better go onto SCOTUS
