So, like most of the baws here, I didn't care for Executive Orders when Barry ruled the land and I still don't. But our President turned a situation where the Democratic leadership thought they had him in a corner into a master stroke of genius.
How much -- Bigly. Just watch those dogs yelping right now. That says everything.
I didn't even like the $400 / week though it certainly is better than the 600. Regardless of what the DNC and their puppet propaganda arm the MSM have stated, it became a dis-incentive to look for work. People are hurting because of displaced jobs--certainly help the immediate need. But then they didn't want to come back to work. We read the anecdotal stories in the news and I've witnessed it first hand. I am certain, this would be used to usher in UBI.
So the Feds provide three of the 400. States which engage with the Federal program chip in 100.
Gavin Newsom already took the bait...
Breitbart News
Meanwhile Newsom and California has been spending hundreds of millions on other programs.
So heres the question:
What States do you think will not participate in this? Democratically run, fiscally mismanaged, with well known DNC super-stars at the helm.
I'm talking California, New York, Michigan, New Jersey, Minnesota, Illinois, Washington, etc.
The genius.. Each of their governors will either payout or look like the dumbasses they really are.

How much did states pay of the initial $600? $200, or am I making that up?

What happened to people need to get back to work?
There are now hiring signs all over my town.
I personally know people that are not going back to work because of these government payments. getting kind of ridiculous at this point.

Not 100% sure, but I think the initial 600 was all federal dollars.

Correct, but the state still paid their typical amount, whatever that was depending on your earnings.

The $600-per-week compensation was scheduled to last until the end of July. This was on top of what out-of-work employees could claim under their state’s unemployment benefits. But how much total unemployment compensation Americans receive varies dramatically by state.
I don't believe the state's provided any of the $600. Now they have additional skin in the game.

I would hope folks understood I was describing the democratic leadership and the main-stream media. Perhaps I was unclear. How's the new job at Slate going?
It was 100% clear. He is just an idiot or a troll.

exactly. Without the fed money, it is something to help, but it is not enough to encourage people to not work. For some people it was a cut, but for most people that extra 600 was a significant raise. That is an issue and I think the 400 proposed now is still too much.

Clown shows! CA wants to pay people that come down with COVID like $1200 but don't want to pony up?
I've got an idea, how about pay people that don't get COVID. I bet those numbers go down then!

At $400, far fewer people will make more by staying at home than they will by going to work. It's a decent compromise that the Dems should have gone for.

States only have to contribute $100 to qualify for the $300.
Does this absolve the states of their own UI since every state's UI is higher than $100?
Or is it on top of the state's UI?
