Once again, your anti-gun bias is coming through so hard that you really didn't think about this sentence before posting it.
as many gun incidents in this country involving multiple deaths...it just kind of rolls off my fingers.

Oh looky Rob found a few, so tell me, the Aussies gave up their weapons, why is this happening in Sydney? They should be safe and sound right?

A few?
It takes a quick google search to find more then a few.
And there will be more soon enough.

But...I thought Australia had very strict gun control laws?
Posted on 12/14/14 at 6:43 pm to Jbird
I'm not really sure why either side is trying to make this an issue about gun control.
We have hostage situations and mass shootings in this country and we have lax gun control laws relative to the rest of the industrialized world.
What is the implication here? That if Australia allowed private carry, it just so happens that a person carrying would be in this exact cafe at this exact time and would have diffused the situation? That rarely happens here and we allow concealed carry.
I think both sides are reaching to politicize it about gun control here.

I mean I understand the link trying to be made, but I just think it is tenuous. I know I'm a dirty liberal here on this board, but not even I would advocate total banishment of guns. I can't speak for that other dirty liberal, asurob1, but I don't think I've ever heard him argue for total banishment either, but I could be wrong on that.

Armed people protect themselves, are you suggesting they should give up that right?
All of these comments assume the CHL carrier would happen to be john Rambo. Some old veteran who could stare down a guy with I assume a bigger weapon and who has the drop on you? Or multiple people. This would require a perfect situation.
Can it happen? Yep. But chances are slim.
This thread has deteriorated into a gun debate. Not an Islamist a-hole discussion. Which just shows me how we can't agree on anything from top to bottom.
These assholes need to be taken out. Those hostages are dead if they try to treat it like any other hostage incident. They have no intention of being talked down.

Our "guns" can't even keep the whack jobs from murdering people en mass in colleges, movie theaters or elementary schools.
