Worst president ever. I honestly wish he had been assassinated.
If this were not truly meant as I read it, please tell us that you really do not wish that ANY US President would have been assassinated .

Killing that one guy would have saved a lot of lives.

That's not the point. Wishing an American President be assassinated ? If he would have made your point instead of his ludicrous statement, that would have a been a valid point for never being in office, but to wish what he did is Un-American and ridiculous. And as for cause of loss of lives in a decision to DECIDE and ENTER wars that we should not have ever been in, in recent history, look back no further than 12 yrs. ago.

I tend to think that each president is worse than the last just because government power continues to grow so each president has more to work with than the last. So, for me, Obama is the worst president ever but the next one will be worse.
But Wilson was pretty wretched.
But Wilson was pretty wretched.

It's true. W. was a real piece of work, and Obama won the first time sounding like a damn libertarian at times, but he wound up being worse than W. It's just a natural progression of the executive.

Yes he was.

No...it really isn't. I have a BA in History and am currently going for my MA with an emphasis on this period in history. But by all means, please continue to embarrass yourself with "facts" that only live in your brain. I find it very amusing.
The truth is, Woodrow Wilson actually showed remarkable restraint in keeping us out of World War I in the early going. He did not declare war on Germany until he absolutely had to. And by August 1917, around the time Pope Benedict XV proposed a peace summit, all parties involved were too knee deep in hatred for the other side to act upon the Holy Father's proposal.

He certainly was at the helm during one of the worst periods of political "developments" in US history relative

It took 3 pages but I'm glad someone finally mentioned this. If I'm not mistaken he ran his second campaign on a slogan of something like "He kept us out of the war".

He laid the groundwork for that monstrosity known as the UN with his League of Nations.
Who the hell says that? I know the UN can be remarkably ineffective sometimes but at least it gives the nations of the world a chance to reason with each other.
eta: Are people really using racism as a reason why he was such a bad President? Not that it excuses Wilson, or anyone else, but he was a product of his time. The list of "racist Presidents" would be long indeed.
Besides the U.S. uses the UN when it suits our needs and then gives it a big middle finger when it doesn't. Sounds like a good set up to me.

It took the British royal elite over 100 years to regain control over the colonies. Thanks to Wilson, they took back our independence in 1913 with the Federal Reserve and the IRS, reducing us once again to indentured servitude.
When people talk about revolution today, all they’re really saying is that we need to take back our independence like they did back in 1776 (before losing it again in 1913).

I'm a university professor. In History. DWI.
ETA: It's amazing what people can find in the archives in London on WWI.
But you're still getting an M.A., so you probably haven't started looking at archives yet...

He was very harmful.
If he would have pushed a peace deal with the Central Powers the rise of the Nazis and other 20th Century nightmares would have never happened.
