re: Is there anything at this point that Trump could do to have his base leave him?

How else do you say that you’ve been a conservative your whole life, really don’t like the woke crap, hate Biden and Harris, and ALSO think Trump and the whole MAGA movement is a scam. It’s not that strange of a position to have.
The love of this scumbag is hilarious and sad. You shouldn’t look up to a politician this way. You shouldn’t wear merch, its embarrasing

Throwing the economy into a recession for no reason at all will definitely have some MAGA bros regretting their vote
Look there are two ways to climb out of debt: Raise Taxes/Cut Benefits OR Grow the economy.
What Trump is doing is a long term play and an admittedly bold gamble, but if it opens new markets for US products (by strong arming developed countries into removing their tariffs) and brings manufacturing back home, he will be viewed favorably by history.
I am nervous how it will play out but I at least give him credit for having the political BALLS to try something rather than just spouting "MilLionaiReS DoN't PaY tHeiR FaiR sHaRe" every four years.

I watched a decent pod about this the other day. SDV will cry that this guy said a few unsavory things at one point, but he was pretty MAGA and still aligns with a lot of populist right. The cult aspect drove him crazy, though. He did give Trump credit for sort of marketing to be whatever people want him to be -- he said Trump is basically a house of mirrors in that respect. First 10 minutes on his personal life are boring, but it's decent after that (I think around the 10 and 18 minute marks).

Pedro Gonzalez and the Rot of Politics
Le Pod episode with Pedro Gonzalez, a former online bomb-thrower of the MAGA movement turned skeptic.
Pedro Gonzalez is a great writer and, in my opinion, has one of the most interesting perspectives on politics today. In a similar way to how both Leighton and I became fed up several years ago with the excesses of the left, Pedro is an alienated right-winger who has watched MAGA turn into a cult of personality.

Watching them cheer on stock market volatility and now engage in some type of revisionist history that Trump had to break things down to build it back up is interesting. I don't think I heard Trump run on recession plans.

Regardless of the merits of any arguments for or against what’s going on, the absolutely childish replies from the most ardent Trump bros on here is what really repels me.
Almost none of you do anything but insult and throw out non sequiturs, and the ones that do show very little grasp beyond tropes.
There is no way I will ever believe Hillary, Joe, or Kamala were the better choices, but this administration needs to get its head out of its arse on a few things. To the bros on this board, though, questioning Trump is categorically verboten and calls for high school hallway responses.

And there you go !!! You RINO’s are a real treat for democrats. Y’all constantly think it’s love of OMB but it’s his belief in the country and the knowledge of how American life carpet was ripped out from underneath our feet. This goes way back and his underlying core is America first and foremost. Nobody is saying that he embodies the soul of a saint but rather we need that egoism leading the stance that Americans have had enough

Here’s a great idea. Since you don’t like politics and the current movement, that it’s so embarrassing, you should log off and not post on a political board. Moron.
