So its pretty clear that whether the right wants it or not, there is going to be a long running investigation into Russia/Trump connections.

With that said, the way I see it - half of the country is not going to believe the results regardless of what they are. If team trump is cleared, the left is going to have a fit. If team trump is not cleared, the right is going to have a fit. And I think this is due to the fact that no one trusts the other side, and no one trusts Comey.

I think its imperative as a a country that we move beyond this scandal, or non-scandal - whatever the results be. And to do that, both sides need to trust the outcome.

Is there anyone both sides could trust? The only thing I could think of would be a military leader, Patreaus and Mattis come to mind, although I don't know how well they are suited for this type of investigation.

Probably not. I feel sorry for whoever gets the job long term.

Republicans are already bitching about Mattis just for trying to make bipartisan hires. They'd turn on him in a nanosecond.

Mike Morrell

Republicans seem to be taking a shine to him all of a sudden.

No there is not.

The long answer is, we are so polarized in this nation that 40% of the idiots want Trump found guilty of SOMETHING and 40% want Obama found guilty of SOMETHING and they simply won't be happy unless any investigation finds SOMETHING to support "their side" and only 20% of people are actually interested in laying out the facts and letting the chips fall where they may.

Laugh now but on here in the thread about his dismissal as a US Attorney there were a lot of Conservatives and even Trumpkins who voiced support for the man.

What Russia investigation. IC directors have already said hey found. I ties between trump and Russia. By all means. Keep beating the drums. Everyone outside of your echo chamber thinks you guys are nuts.

Leaving investigations to people either in government or people who owe their wealth and status to government will never produce anything close to the truth.

If you want a true and honest in-depth investigation, it should be done by an investigative journalist with equal amounts of dislike for all parties involved. My vote would be for Glenn Greenwald. This would never happen though, as the Deep State fears transparency more than anything else.

I am betting you are on a phone.

Reality is there is an investigation. And there will continue to be an investigation.

Best for the investigation to be real and the outcome trusted.

I like it, but do agree it never happens.

Although I am not sure I would pick Glenn. Mainly b.c he can't write to save his life.

At one point, I thought that it was important to find out if there was collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians (maybe because Trump tweeted that the Russians should get Hillary's emails and they then magically appeared).

But now it is getting completely out of hand. And if there is a complete investigation of all this stuff, nobody is going to come out unscathed. Both "sides" are going to be bloodied and we're all going to be worse off because of it.
