No, but their political views are out of whack with how they live their lives.

They have huge carbon footprints, they seek tax loopholes at every opportunity, they live like Kings while others suffer, they gladly live behind walls.....we could list numerous examples.

So they're staunch capitalists as you might expect

quote:

If these hypocrites really wanted to help the poor as they claim, they could immediately divest themselves of 2/3 of their wealth, distribute it to those they see as needy and still live like Kings....hint: they won't.

Gates has given a lot to charity and has encouraged other billionaires to do likewise

He's personally donated tens of billions of his personal wealth to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

If you're trying to insinuate that they don't help the poor then you're clueless

In addition to distributing insecticide-treated bed nets, the Gates Foundation is also seeking to educate the public about the fight against malaria. In his post, Gates wrote about the significant progress that has already been made on that front. Since 2000, the number of people killed by malaria each year has fallen by half, an achievement he calls “miraculous,” though he points out that 429,000 people still died from the disease last year.

The Gates Foundation, which Gates formed with his wife, Melinda, is the world’s largest private charity; it has distributed more than $40 billion in grants to date and supports organizations in over 100 countries. The foundation is currently working to eradicate polio globally in the next three years.

Gates donates 4.6 billion in MSFT shares to Gates Foundation and establishes aggressive initiative to help fight malaria

Why any billionaire would support the current Democrat party is puzzling to me.

It's really simple. One, the liberals will leave them alone (personal and business). Two, they regulate out all competition for campaign contributions.

Nope, he hasn't done enough, he still has entirely too much money and too may people are still suffering....

He is a hypocrite unless he immediately gives 2/3 of his assets to the poor in which case he will still live like a King....

See, isn't it FUN to spend other peoples' money and make them look like selfish azzholes in the process?

It's not that hard. Billionaires have enough money to afford tax and regulation... their smaller, less wealthy competitors do not. Billionaires wield influence and the fist of government to stifle competition and weaken opposition. They can afford to use government, why not support making your weapon more powerful?

What's rather interesting is the more conservative mega billionaires are the ones with inherited wealth (Koch Bros and the Waltons) where as most of the self made guys at the top are more left leaning. Larry Ellison would be an exception to that observation as he is more right leaning.

I don't think that holds true - it's pretty evenly split and, outside the top ten or so, probably leans a little right.

Adelson, Robert Mercer, Ken Langone, the Ricketts family, Peter Thiel, Icahn, Rupert Murdoch (for the most part), Harold Hamm, Ray Dalio, the Marriotts, Seth Klarman (until Trump was elected, at least), Stephen Ross, and on and on are all self-made and all conservative or outright Republican.

I'm not saying I agree with the left on the topic of wealth distribution. I clearly don't. But you pretending that they're hypocrites is a bit silly since they are in fact very charitable.

Wealth envy is a trait of weak mindedness.

It is very common in liberals

Jeff Bezos wants to have enough shares to maintain power over Amazon. if they were worth half as much, he'd still want that. if they were worth 10x as much, he'd still want that. you cannot separate the estimated value of that stock from the ownership/power it gives the owner

This can be said of any family owned business no matter how large or small. Someone in that family wants to control that business.

No, I'm giving you a glimpse into the mindset of the sheep that believe in wealth re-distribution.

If Gates is held to the same standards the Right are held to , he has no business being so wealthy.

The irony of it all is that the people that push the narrative TO the sheep are mostly extremely rich themselves.
