Is the Colonial Pipeline attack just to drum up support for Biden's unpopular bill?

Probably.
The US government only attacks its own citizens these days.

I find it interesting that's is a pipeline and this are bad.

Why not allow the Russians to shut it down? I thought pipelines poisoned the environment?

Or is that only the keystone pipeline or any new pipeline?

I get so confused by democratic hypocrisy...

It is certainly exhausting. Imagine having to keep all the lies straight in your head instead of just using logic and observance.

Well, they can surely put a token amount in for pipeline security and a little more for the grid... Why wouldn't they do something like this?

I think that this case is a poster child for arguing that we need much more Pipeline infrastructure in the US, not less. That way, taking down one would have negligible effect on distribution.

What I would like is for someone to explain to me why critical infrastructure like this is accessible via WWW

Set points (meter settings) are adjustable by SCADA software in response to nominations on the pipe. This is done via WWW.

Putting SCADA on the web is extremely irresponsible. It is supposed to be an isolated network.

I'm just glad to have another example of why the USA is totally incompetent, can't find its arse with both hands AND is going to be steamrolled by China as the decades roll on.

As long as people LOVE LOVE LOVE the USA, we aren't going to have any kind of Secession movement here.

Perhaps, I said that poorly. SCADA is typically on an isolated network(but with a few ports open to the corporate network). However, bad guys can/have infiltrate the corporate networks, and obtain access to the SCADA network. From there, they can access the P/L and manipulate set points, etc.

No.
Many posters questioned the great toilet paper shortage of '20, and the attention it received from MSM/SM, and then wondered the ramifications if the same type "crisis" was generated for fuel.
The last thing the administration needs is a run on gas.
IF this shutdown is as serious as some believe, it will get "fixed" by whatever means ($$$) necessary as quickly as possible.
OR it may not be a big deal.
We the mushrooms will know in a few days when the price of fuel doubles or just runs out.

Would be incredible if Biden destroys us within 6 months. Not that he already hasn't.
