As I told the rant when the "one of us" crowed was spiking the football about O after 2019, you can call an all-in on the river with 2 outs (4% chance of winning) and still win the hand.

Doesn't make it a good play.

this only works if the goal was 10% across the board tariffs for 90 days and isolating China...and I mean at the outset, not today at noon, CST.

No it shows those countries that the administration is serious about imposing tariffs. If all they do is threaten about tariffs, very few countries would come to the table to negotiate. Actually doing something gets the ball rolling.

You understand that but you’re so eager to be contrarian in every way.

The ball rolling...to do what, exactly?

That last part is the issue (and the larger point)

1. Bring manufacturing home?
2. Replace income tax with tariffs?
3. Create Zero tariff/fair trade?
4. Refi the 9T in treasuries?
5. Stop fentanyl?
6. National security?

I guess we're close to adding "isolate China" in a day or 2

You would never give the man any credit for positive outcomes, so your posts and analyses are completely fricking worthless.

I’m convinced now that you are legit retarded and can’t hold a job. That’s why you’re on this board so much.

Exactly, the lack of understanding of how negotiations work by some posters here is shocking.

My biggest take way from the last week is that Bessent’s message is probably the one to follow within the administration. He was the one consistently saying there would be negotiations.

Navarro is, at best, the “bad cop.”

As far as the TDS folks around here, I think they are just ridiculous. A normal person would grow tired of always getting it wrong!

Funny you haven’t realized that the flip side of the coin of “TDS” is mindless hero worship

How exactly did he "fail at his goals"?

You assholes, in addition to everything else, are some petty motherfrickers.

They will NEGOTIATE and we can see what they come up with.

Anyone who can listen to him and honestly believe this administration is just doing nothing but flinging poo up against a wall with this stuff, is really not a serious person.

They have to spin it that way. This isn't over yet, obviously, but the results will be what he is judged on, I think, rather than bullshite spin that folks are obviously seeing past in this modern, post-traditional media era.

I can’t tell if you’re criticizing or complimenting Bessent.

Are we better off after the dust settles? If so, it was a successful negotiation. Otherwise, it was not.

Anyone who thought we could bring back all manufacturing and still earn enough tariffs to offset income taxes could be sold some nice Kansas oceanfront property.

Stock market dip, inflation and prices are going up, jobs are not coming back to USA like promised.

Can you explain what we’re winning at? If other countries know now that Trump will cave and push back tariffs 90 days if a deal isn’t reached, how exactly does that give us leverage? If other countries don’t like whatever deal we’re offering, they can just simply wait because now they know Trump will cave and will push back tariffs instead of moving forward with them.

Anyone have any details of just 1 trade agreement?

It's not an argument. He did 100%.

You're an idiot. He played the world like a fiddle. He is getting all of our trade partners minus China for now to come to the negotiation table and work out a deal. You think Trump is going to cave when they get to the table?? He isn't bluffing they will concede and we will better trade deal of the USA at the end of this. This is in no way a situation where Trump blinked. This has been planned by him over a long time.
