Do you know who determines that? You do.

the flag represents the sacrifice of service members who were sent to fight for each other and home.
No it doesn’t, it represents the Union.

I don't idolize the sky cloth.

Should get back to basics...

Might not look the same but it will still be better than anything else out there.
I'm not being disrespectful when I ask this, as I am genuinely curious, but when does this statement stop being true? What would have to happen for you to say, "You know what, this isn't the greatest country anymore"?

Have you ever traveled? I don't know that there's a country on the planet that could pass us in our lifetimes.

I’ve got two flying from my home.

Y'all supporting this sound just like Brittany Griner...hating our country. Sad.

frick anyone who flys an American flag.
That’s a bold statement.
And also one that I guarantee you only make on internet message boards.

Why travel? I live in the greatest country the world has ever known.
The question still stands. What would have to happen for this country to no longer be the greatest?
Don't think about other countries catching up to the USA in greatness, but rather the USA sliding into mediocrity. What would have to happen here, to make another country as they are right now, better?

Not exactly the same thing.
I haven’t sung the National Anthem in years.
That doesn’t mean I don’t stand (respectfully) when it’s played.
I choose not to grandstand—no one is aware of my personal beliefs—and/or draw attention to myself.
Griner’s behavior is her call; but people can have opinions and respond accordingly.

Indeed.

Time travel. You'd have to erase the foundation of this country before we had two and a half centuries to cement it.

You couldn't pay me to fly that flag right now. I'm embarrassed to be an American.
Just a point of reference:
I am involved in intl business and speak with people all over the world every single day.
Yesterday I asked these foreigners if they heard about the FBI raid. They all sighed a bit and said "yea not a good look". I asked how we were viewed in their respective countries and they collectively said that we don't carry the same amount clout as we once did. Said it happened within the last year.
CSB I know.

Like I said, America is more than the government and the flag doesn't just represent the government, but the ideas that underlie the country, the people, etc. I still believe in those ideas...

...which makes the present unfurling of the Stars & Stripes all the more a potential conflict. (Do Dems use it as a prop OR a symbol of *their* own ideology?
Though for the vast majority of us the US Flag represents the ideal of a shared notion of Loyalty, Fidelity, Honor & Freedom, *can* the Flag's meaning (or any other symbol) be subverted?
Example: THE RAINBOW.

I have traveled plenty. It's part of my job. It was a rhetorical question.
And see, some might suggest that belief in something so ardently that one cannot fathom it deteriorating is cult like faith.
To pretend that the USA could do nothing to fall behind other countries greatness is rose-colored glasses vision.
Are we truly better than the third world if our govt does the same thing as other third world govts?
Would you be willing to accept that the USA could fall into such disrepair that, while it isn't worse than other countries, but that it's no better? Such as, say, suspend the US Constitution and cancel the midterm elections? Would we still be the greatest country on earth?
And no, it isn't that far-fetched. In fact, it has been suggested.
