It’s definitely not more important than what I inject into my body

More important? That's a weird question. At no point in world history should a sport have been "more important" than politics.

If what you meant to ask was, "does politics need to be integral to sports for you to enjoy them" then the answer for most of history would be, "nope".

Alas, now the people IN sports and the people broadcasting sports disagree. Therefore, in 2021, sports and politics are one in the same.

Thus, your question is moot.

I hate both equally. Used to love college football but I don't watch any sports at all anymore. Screw em.

I think this is a facile take. Politics has always been deeply enmeshed in sport. What's changed this time is the fat white dudes don't like what the politics are now.

Calling bullshite. Other than the national anthem and flyovers, let's hear some examples.

Silliness. If the athletes involved in Water Polo spent half their time talking about how shitty black men are for society, it would hardly stun me if black men didn't feel like watching them. And, it would hardly surprise me if at some point, even white men who didn't care much about it said frick it. Because, most people tune in to watch the game and plan to pretty much talk about THE GAME for however long it goes on.

I try to overlook team affiliations here on the PTB, but goddammit if Arkie, MiZzzou and Tennessee fans don't have the worst takes with respect to liberty and personal freedoms.
