Slight correction. Cyprus allowed the UK to base there and the UK subbed space to the US. It’s apparently complicated but the US is there as “guests” of the UK.
At least as of December when my son left there that was the case. The Brits are great hosts though, they flew a C-17 from the UK to bring a piano for the memorial of the DAP crew killed from the 160th on 11/11.
