Russia is likely okay with Iran getting put in check. Trump isn’t trying to nation build here. He’s just telling Iran to stop harming our interests or you will get an eye for an eye.

Russia and China are more concerned with NK & Syria than they are with Iran
Iran may be one of their buddies but I feel pretty confident in saying they aren't as high on the list as NK and Syria

I looked up a Russian news site. The site says that Putin is likely satisfied with this. Iran isn’t really an ally, and he can use the US aggression in politics. Basically saying that we are imperialistic and need to be kept in check. It was an opinion piece, but seemed legit. Another article had the Russian foreign minister quoted saying that the strike against Soleimani and Iran are in violation of international law. So, while Russia certainly won’t take our side, it doesn’t look like they’ll do much to stop us.

Iran is allies with both Russia & China, but they aren't really as high up on the list like Syria & NK are
not saying Russia and China wouldn't come to aid for Iran in term of helping supply weapons. but I don't really think either would bother putting troops on the ground
now say if it was NK or Syria we were about to go to war with then perhaps different story
