I got that. And while doing so also redlined his heart. Can both not happen? One causing the other?

If you're doing a shitty job of hanging yourself surely your heart is going crazy during the struggle.

If you hang yourself successfully, you go into cardiac arrest. When you're found, they will try to resuscitate you. The initial report of cardiac arrest is routine.

People have suggested that because the initial call was for a cardiac arrest that it's strange because he hanged himself.

I was taking it that some thought he had heart attack versus hanging.

Not that anyone would try to change the narrative...

Nope, they're going to go for the fantastical. Some have even suggested that he's actually alive and got moved to an isolated island and this is all cover.

I guess you could be referring to me given the reply to me about "they are saying he hung himself". Which I didnt really get at the time as my point was, regardless of what they said about his heart condition, it was subsequent to his #1 task on his to do list for the day which was hanging himself. Hanging first, cardiac arrest next.

Clear case of slipping on a bar of soap, accidentally sticking your foot in a toilet, where an electric razor fell in, all the while an electric cord wrapps around your neck.

ETA Causing cardiac arrest.

They thought a guy hanging from a sheet had a heart attack?

The media is going to have a glorious time twisting this around.

No that's not what it means. They will call and inform of cardiac arrest anytime someone is found without a pulse. Ignorance is going to make this stupidity run wild.

bullshite.

I’ve called 911 a couple of dozen times to activate EMS. The way it works is that you provide as much pertinent information as you can and answer any questions that are asked by the 911 operator and they are relaying that information to EMS while they are in transit so they can hit the door with as much useful information as they can to speed up the provision of the appropriate care once they are on site.

No one is going to activate EMS for a hanging victim by reporting cardiac arrest.

Is a beach lifeguard gonna call 911 and report someone bitten half by a shark without a pulse as in cardiac arrest? Is a cop that comes up on an MVA with ejection and no pulse going to activate EMS reporting cardiac arrest?

GTFO.

You're out of your element Donnie. I've worked in ERs where the EMT calls in a cardiac arrest to the ER while in route.

Used as a term to relate that the person is in asystole, sure.

Using cardiac arrest as the sole bit of information when the cause is traumatic in nature?

No.

It would be more like “GSW victim in cardiac arrest” or “roll over mva with ejection in cardiac arrest.”

It’s not just gonna be cardiac arrest on a trauma victim.

Who said it was the sole bit of information related? They likely also gave age and other details.

I don’t know what you are shooting for here. The prison guards are not gonna call 911 or get on the radio and call in a hanging victim as a cardiac arrest. They are layman. Even with training, in that situation the guards are going to call or radio in and say they have a prisoner that hanged themselves and they need EMS.

Again, who said "cardiac arrest" was the sole bit of information.
