Fair enough

I think if we realistically addressed the revenue problem, a lot more people would actually care about fixing the spending one

This is a digression, though. We're off the subject of whether the tax cuts goose growth enough to offset what they lose via the lower rates

Let's call it a hunch for now, Barry.

What's your take? Is the tax cut going to "pay for" itself?

I underestimate the effect of having a historical record number of people working and paying taxes? Is that what you’re saying? Please be clear on that before I respond and absolutely destroy your ignorance

Slowest recovery in history. Thanks Obama. Dems out us in the recession with the housing bubble...obama stifled the recovery. It's amazing how resilient the economy can be when you don't have Barney frank and Barack obama setting regulations.

I don't think that is a good way to describe it. (I know those aren't your words). To require it to"pay for itself" necessitates an assumption that all wealth belongs to the government and what citizens are allowed to keep must be "paid for". I do not think the tax cut will increase the deficit. The deficit will grow....but t will not be due to the tax cut.

No you OVERerestimate the "the high paying manufacturing jobs returning to the US", both in magnitude and in significance. That's what I'm saying- that's why I quoted what I quoted in my response. So it would be clear. Which it was.

But we don't, and we will never change so long as that remains the case.

that + happy willingness to blow up deficits even when we're not even in a recession ==> permanent revenue problem

I don't think it requires that strong of an assumption. We changed the law, in a way that will cause the government to lose resources it otherwise would have had, and partially offset that loss via gains elsewhere through some faster growth. I think "pay for" is a reasonable shorthand for "offset reduced tax revenue". I put it in quotes because I know people are touchy about using that language for it

Is someone supposed to take an article seriously with a comment like:

quote:

Other Democratic big lies

We’re 7 months into the tax cuts, which any reasonable person should agree is a little early to declare winners.

Every time there’s been a significant tax cut, there’s been huge revenue growth. It’s like you retards don’t understand that 100% of 0 is still 0

I'll reiterate as well: we have both.

I'll also reiterate that IMO the most realistic way to attack the spending problem is by feeling the pain of actually paying for our shite
