In honor of the SuperBowl that I won’t be watching, it is a metaphor

I’ve come to the conclusion that there are 4 political flavors in the US.
1) Big government types, who believe that government should make morality necessary because people are too flawed to take care of themselves, or make their own decisions. For them freedom means only the right to vote for the people who run shite. Just better be the correct people. For some people this morality is written in the Bible. For some, in the Quaran. For some, it’s in the Communist Manifesto. For some, it’s whatever holy book the church of Climate Change uses to publish its 97% of scientists who agree. Whatever their ethos, these people think that’s what is right for them, is right for everyone else, and because they are the arbiters of what is right and wrong, they should be in charge of everything. This is the “know better” conference.
2. Limited Government folks. These people believe that private morality is a necessary component to freedom because it fills in the gaps of right and wrong that Government cannot go, if we want a free society. These people may differ on the things a government can and cannot govern, but believe that two things are necessary for a free society: 1) limitations on government; and 2) private ethics and strong family units (happily, this is Wednesday’s Team). This is the Live and Let Live Conference.
3) The Uniparty. This is the smallest part of our electorate. These are the political ruling class who have much in common with Big Government people. The exception is that Big Government is a conference. Big Government has many teams, and periodically the one winning elections changes. Whereas the Uniparty, is just one big “team” who’s raison D’etre is running shite. They’re the Notre Dame of politics. Democrats and Republicans are offense and defense, but they are still on the same team. Pundits, news organizations, lobbying groups and political think tanks are special teams.
4) Spectators. These people don’t play a position. Because they don’t have one. On freaking anything. If they have any interest in politics they are “moderates” who can’t take a position because they weren’t good enough, or connected enough to make Team Uniparty. Otherwise, they haven’t thought about politics because they believe that politics doesn’t affect them. Or they are too drunk, or distracted to be paying attention, and are really just there for the party.

God bless your little heart for typing all that.

Thanks for the attention, Spectator.

Well spoke, W.
Do you believe that God (assuming such exist) is a "Big Government Type"?

We aren't all slow. He probably invested 45 seconds in typing the OP. It took me 15 seconds to read it.

Nope. I don’t believe God is a Big Government Type.
I believe in a benevolent God with a sense of humor.
I think God made us all different for a reason. Differnt wants, needs, talents and shortcomings. I don’t we can’t live out our calling, or even figure out what that is unless we have the freedom to do our own thing.
God gave gave us a moral compass so we don’t get lost along the way, but we each have our own path.

Moderates or “spectators” as you call this because they accept certain tenets from both sides of the isle. Not necessarily because they have no position.

GW reminds me of Les Miles, for some reason or other. Two Guys...reaching. Did their best. Kudos for that!

1. it’s aisle
2. Rand Paul is team Limited Government. He certainly takes positions from each side of the aisle, but I have never heard him referred to as a “moderate.” In fact I have consistently heard him referred to as a radical. This despite that he (usually) remains ideologically consistent and will take positions against his party when the position on the other side of the aisle is more in line with his thinking.
3. Joe Manchin and Susan Collins are typically classified “moderates.” Never seen either of them be the first to take a position on any issue on either side of the aisle, theirs, or the other. Doesn’t make them evil or anything. But it also doesn’t make them leaders.

The really annoying subset of these are those people who take the time to post how they don't care about anything and hold that out as some sort of badge of superiority.
along with the "both sides" people

Your reasoning is bureaucratic. Pick a side. Anyone who condones the slightest form of today's leftism are filth.

I picked my side. I said in the OP. I’m in conference 2.
Team libertarian leaning right, who is a registered republican (because I’m a never Marxist). I believe in enforcing borders and engaging wars only in our national interest and the entire Constitution.
Otherwise the government can leave me the hell alone.

I guess I am sort of a spectator. More of a realist. Old enough to know that getting worked up over things you have no control over is silly. Smart enough to know that most things of importance are determined long before any attention is given to them. I also know the value of sometimes shutting the hell up (being a spectator) and allowing people with over valued opinions the chance to show who they are. I am glad to see you’re a fellow Christian though.
