and I have the pleasure of listening to the presentation by Arizona Department of Economic Security... Welfare. This lady worships the State, and listeng to her reminds me of Mormon missionaries. She goes on and on about all of the incredible benefits of working for government.

As a taxpayer, I'm sitting here with my head about to explode as she is detailing the virtues of spending my money. frick these statist pieces of shite.

How wonderful it is to work for government, and how awesome it is that there are so many departments that you can go into as a career in government. She is recruiting government drones.

I at least want to say "you're welcome for the opportunity to so gleefully spend my money."

I once had a job interview with the FAA for air traffic controller, and some other jobs, the interviewer showed me a pay scale, and pointed to a line, he said you will start here and if you stay in the same job for 10 years you will be at this salary level. I asked if the raises are automatic if you just show up and do the same job for 10 years and he seemed surprised that I thought that was unusual.

There was an incident recently at our local courthouse where a dude had just not shown up to work for 10 years and was still collecting paychecks. The only way they found out is the old bookkeeper or something retired and the new one was like who is this guy? Government is completely inept.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with expressing your point of view that private industry, NOT government, creates jobs, careers and income. A civil remark to that effect is perfectly appropriate.

Now, what I'd love to know is did you find any suitable summer recruits and what are you observations about those looking?!?!

Exactly what I was looking for and expecting.

On the other hand, someone has to do the government work. We do need essential services and I hope to one day think there will be thinking units performing said services. It starts with recruitment but ends with management. Government systems are not very friendly to effective management theory and systems. Merit is not rewarded.

OK, I'm confused now. I was asking SoulGlo about whether he found adequate recruits for his summer positions and what his observations about potential hires are based on speaking with them.

I'm still interested in that feedback.

I told the students...

"for your entire career in whatever industry you go into, you must be able to sell yourself and your company to potential employers and clients at every opportunity. Well, unless you work for the State..." and continued on.

Dick move?

She’s there to recruit, so why wouldn’t she present the benefits of working for the government? As a career path, there are worse things you could do. Depending on what you get into, work the government side for 25 years, retire when you’re 46/47 and go to work in the private sector. I’m not debating the validity of all government jobs and how much waste there is, but you’re at a job fair.

What's the old saying - if you can't find a real job you can always go to work for the government.

A lot of truth in that old adage.

of course, but this bitch is a true believer in the God of Government.

She's an Evangovical. But instead of giving tithe of her own pocket to her religion, she "gives" of mine.
