The commission also learned that participants mainly used the funds for essential needs such as food, rent, utilities, and transportation."

Who would've believed an extra $1k/month would lower stress and of course it was spent on necessities like food, rent, utilities, and transportation.

It appears the Xitter poster's claim of a "$1.15B shortfall looming in 2026" is conflating Chicago's potential budget deficit with Cook counties UBI program. If Cook county does have a deficit in 2026 it will not be due to something that is .07% of their budget.
