What you are saying is that in1619 that one slave who was 'bought' off that slave boat in Virginia would have just been transported on to some other buyer in some other country - or else he would have been dumped overboard at sea.

Actually, most Americans came to this country as 'indentured servants' - having to 'work off their transport fees' before they became 'free'
So - I will amend your solution to be = 'never instituting CHATTEL slavery' = where the children of slaves were not automatically considered slaves themselves.
IF we had an American 'original sin' - I think it was the CHATTEL form of slavery. But I think that originated in the Caribbean, so even that was 'inherited' as the 'way things were' in the 1600s.
It may well be that slavery was one of those things that had to work itself out thru trial and error and the blood/sweat of generations of good people.
Anyone today who says they have the 'correct answer' to this age-old sin is a fool.
AND - I think that any black person in America today who is still using 'slavery' as the be-all-end-all reason for their CURRENT problems is a total fool. In fact they should thank their lucky stars that their slave ancestors survived to give them a chance for life in America today.

yep - that has a more direct impact on our current woes than slavery.
We had the slavery problem solution well under way until the 'feelings matter more than facts' element was rammed into our political system.

My choice for the most recent ill that we should have stamped out immediately was "Political Correctness"

Long term Chinese imported cheap labor was the better answer in my opinion. See every major metropolitan city in 2023 to support my claim.
