Which is a threshold we’re pretty damn close to as a country. That’s why it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility that the Bidens/Harris(es)/Newsoms of the country can win national elections and control of Congress without cheating. All they have to do is motivate those who love their freebees to continue lining up at the polls. Hell…that’s why campaigns pay for buses to transport such voters to the polls.

Not disagreeing necessarily, but what Constitutional principle would it violate?

If the government can tax you for owning property or buying something or inheriting an estate, why can't it tax you for moving out of state?

I could be wrong, of course—I'm not an attorney or a CPA. But I think this might have to be solved at the ballot box or in the streets rather than in court.

They already are implementing it in parts of California. We had to pay a tax to Santa Clara County when we moved away. It was about 6 k. It had only been around a few months when we sold our home.

Seems like the marxists lost patience with turning up the heat slowly, and the frogs are starting to jump out of the pot.

IF it does hold up, I suggest every conservative, red state, retroactively pass the 'stupid/liberal' entry tax, at 90% of the exit tax. Also, your taxes will always be twice what the rest of the populous of the state pays.

This is imposed to people who move to conservative states, destroying what makes them great.

They all do it. Traffic, home prices, violence, HOA's ... you name it... they bring it.

Besides, if you have enough to leave California, you've got enough to give Alabama.

My sister lived in Cali and worked as a registered nurse, she later stopped working and moved to Louisiana (family issues).

The state of California sent her a state income tax bill for the amount a registered nurse "would make" had they worked all year.

I've heard of them doing this to others

frick that! They voted for the idiots in charge, they should suffer the consequences. If they flee, catch them and send them back. Don’t encourage those roaches to infest other states
