If Trump never existed, we would have had Hillary and the same people whom are supporting DeSantis would’ve voted for Jeb Bush.

In all honesty we've let a brand of entertainment-driven populism infect the GOP.
Don't get me wrong, the GOP sucked and Trump's contingent isn't all bad and certainly made some improvements. But they tore it down and can't build it back up. Increasingly, it looks like their vision for building it back up is some centrist NY Republican garbage.

Exactly. He was sort of the one shot to bridge whatever America First/MAGA is and GOPe. There is really no path forward for the populist aspect in the future. Lake is a clown. MTG does some good work, but is cartoonish and polarizing. Gaetz is a step above that.
