The most anti-illegal immigration person I ever knew was a guy from Mexico that came to the States legally when he was 18.
He couldn’t stand people that broke the law to come here. He said the legal way really isn’t that difficult or expensive. There were even billboards at the boarder advertising immigration lawyers that would help them do it the right way.

They'll ask for jobs to help rat them out and round them up.

Yeah, those illegal Swedes are becoming a problem.

The immigrants (from any nation) who go through the process correctly always get forgotten about in these situations. The ones I know who are here legally are proud of their choice to do things the right way because they want to be here and be a true American citizen, they do not like people who skip the line because it marginalizes their sacrifices and hard work, from personal experience they feel the same way about border crossers as you would about being passed over for a promotion because of dei (or something similar). I employed a woman who was a legal citizen, as was her whole family (except her husband), husband left and went back to mexico to do it right and gain citizenship - I gladly gave her pto to be with him every step of the way and the day he was granted citizenship was such a proud day for all of them. Couldn't be more happy for a family.

The mass deportations are a pipe dream.

Yeah, we're still underwater with Hispanics as a group (I personally hate the way all Hispanics are grouped together but this isn't the time for that). When he has been on the ballot the republicans have received a higher percentage of the Hispanic vote than when he isn't. So we have to be careful when analyzing this as a big shift to the Right in general discussion. It's a shift towards him but still not a majority of their overall vote. Assuming that he gets deportations rolling quickly how will that impact the 2022 midterm? It could go over really poorly when they have family members getting kicked out. But he has to navigate these waters because the deportations are needed. I don't envy the guy but he knows what needs to be done and I think he means to lessen the illegal problem. It wouldn't take much of a shift away from him to get throttled in the midterms.

The Hispanics who are here legally and legal citizens came here to escape poverty, corruption and violence.
Pretty sure they don’t want the U.S. importing those types that cause such issues
