re: If POTUS simply terminated DACA immediately with no delay, there would be no shutdown

Trump is playing 4d chess with the dims. He canceled it with a march deadline to:
1) not make himself and the republicans look like horrible, heartless people who hate brown people. More marketable for midterms and reelection.
2) Cancelation puts the burden on congress (crying chuck and Pelosi) to officially pass a bill where deals/concessions are made and not pass the buck from president to president to illegally allow non-citizens to maintain temporary status.

Democrats won't concede their constant democratic vote inflow of illegals, low skill immigrants, and persecuted muslim refugees from muslim countries to stop American from a) building the wall b) stopping the broken lottery visa c) chain migration of 1 skilled immigrant bringing their entire family trees of low skill foreigners. and have effectively stopped pay to millions of American citizens for illegal alien rights.

This could be check mate for the Democratic party.

I agree. Trump would have to say "enforce it" to the 9th circuit. He'd win but it would rally the libs. The slow play may be most efficient here, especially since it's already in the court system. He'll win at SCOTUS and the libs will have nowhere to go with that.
