Oh really?????
I have a friend whose kid graduated from LSU with an Electrical Engineering degree whose only real option was either languish in a an underpaying job at Barksdale or go to Raleigh Durham or the Baltimore area. That's after going around to just about every decent employer in BR/ NO essentially begging employers for a job that would pay him 100K a year which would have been a pay cut just to stay close to home.

Got an EE job in Raleigh for 140K. The problem was little to no demand locally for his abilities even at a discount. That's the kind of shite that graduates face. If he wanted to work for free, there were a plethora of jobs, however.

I get the concern. BR has terrible leadership, but LSU is not going to die. It’s the largest class in history.

Football did that. What happens next remains to be seen.

Laugh all you want but our last of 3 children is at Ole Miss .. it's like freaking Mayberry in Oxford. The education is the same with the same liberal leanings BUT she's safe. And that trumps everything for this momma.

NOTHING like what's happening in BR, NOLA, etc is happening there.

Not completely disagreeing here, but this isn't the first time an LSU student was killed, and she was in a bad-ish part of town.

Around the time I was there, a Japanese international student was killed for trick-or-treating at the wrong door. When I was working there, a couple of Indian PhD students in the married housing were murdered in their apartment.

LSU has always been a little dangerous. Baton Rouge has a major problem, and yes it is getting worse with no signs of change, but this isn't like finding out there's no Santa Claus - it's been like this for decades.

I hear you, but there seems to be no motive for this one though. She was shot like kids shooting sparrows with a pellet gun. Almost for fun.

This feels more tipping point-ish. I think there's always been some tragic killings. We've reached a new frantic level in BR with the out of control crime. I look at it through the eyes of a parent with young boys. There is no turning this ship around. Look at the daily threads on here of people wanting or getting out of this state.

I reiterate my initial post, the only thing that brings in fresh, young blood is LSU. Once you reach the point where multi-generational alumni say "not my kids" you're in a bad place.

It could be road rage, mistaken identity, or more to the story (jealous ex-gf, for example) that we don't know yet. Houston seems to have a road rage killing every week, and as bad is BR is, Houston is approaching NO levels.

Both have already died

It’s us who haven’t accepted it yet

I dont know about death but there are a large number of people that wont consider LSU for their kids. OOS school enrollment is growing.

Baton Rouge is just a garhole. We live in Alexandria and it isnt much different. But it is easy to stay out of the crime riddled areas of Alex.
