The reason is whats known as a Sunshine law, Florida newspapers can write stories about crimes that other states can't.

I once read a long article on this hypothesis and only like five states could subsist on their own: 1 California 2 Texas 3 Louisiana 4 New Jersey 5 Florida.

CA, TX and LA were tops because of energy production, self sustaining agri, ports/rivers and military installations.

Louisiana — as you baws like to point out — already lives in a world of its own and would be a member of OPEC, one of the world’s nuclear super powers, controls the MissRiver and has a strangle hold on crawfish production.

GAMAL.

Back in the ‘70s I read a novel about a black extremist group — kinda like BLM today — that kidnapped the President and demanded they be granted the new Nation of GAMAL. But it did not end well for them.

GAMAL = Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas and Louisiana.

Florida is the only tourism state left that isn't blue. That's all they have going for them. Beaches and resorts.

If they'd like to succeed, more power to them, but they can pay for their population.

Yeah, I know, I googled it myself and can’t find it. Frustrating. But it was a mass market novel from circa 1973-75 and not a huge success. It was memorable though. Wish I could remember name. Damn it.

Sort of a Black Panther group that kidnaps the President and holds him hostage in an armored vehicle in the middle of a big city thoroughfare. Lot of politics, of course, but also focused on how the spec-ops people were gong to take out the kidnappers.

It also kinda kept the reader in suspense as to what and where GAMAL was located.

That's because the dumbasses in Tallahassee ran manufacturing out in the 90's with regulations.

If they tried Washington would attack to reclaim, and destroy.
