They supported Bill Clinton, who after numerous rape accusations, had sex with a subordinate in the damn oval office.

They supported Bob Menendez, who was accused of soliciting underaged Dominican hookers and caught taking cash and gifts from Qatar.

They supported Bob Byrd, a former Klan leader who filibustered the Civil Rights Act.

They supported Swallwell, after it was revealed he had a sexual relationship with a Chinese spy.

I could go on forever.

So the answer to your question is YES.

I guess. That seems like a pretty loose definition to me, but o.k.

Jim Jones? Sure, no doubt.

Charles Manson? I don't know. IMO you might as well also call him a Christian because he taught the Family that he was Jesus Christ returned and that there was going to be an apocalyptic event. I don't know that anything he said or did is coherent enough to fit into the categories we recognize.

Well you could draw a comparison to all of the GOP congress men and senators who brought their own kneepads when they knelt and kissed Trump's ring. Both sides have those followers who are incapable of independent thought and blindly follow the party leadership.

I don't think he wrote thesis on how to be a socialist but he lived like one. In fact, his tract was very similar to Jones' but Jones had more means and got in bed with the San Fran Liberal politician scene (Harvey Milk and Willie Brown, yes that Willie Brown) whereas Manson was just a communal free love junkie. However, there are rumors of CIA ties, j/s

But ok, I guess, I'm not sure of the analogy. Blasphemy doesn't seem like great evidence.

However he grew up very much Christian in the protestant sect of the religion. Well verse in scripture, but I think his faith waned (you know, the blasphemy)

But really he wasn't.

Manson was a pimp. He mostly used pimping control tactics that he learned in prison.

Sure, free love is what he told the 17 and 18 year old runaways he recruited, but he didn't believe it. He was just controlling them, breaking down their inhibitions and training them to do what he told them to do. Just like pimps do.

And he was much more of a criminal than he was a socialist.

There's a lot of evidence to support the idea that he personally didn't believe in Helter Skelter at all. It was just part of his control narrative. That the murders were committed not to try to start a race war, but just to get Bobby Beausoleil out of prison by committing copycat murders to look like the Gary Hinman murder. Which was nothing more than a robbery.

Since you didn't quote my text I assume you're replying to the first post I made in the thread up near the top of the first page.

If so, my response: The Democratic Party has been controlled by populists since before I was alive. The Republican Party, on the other hand, is succumbing to populism in real time.

That's what those recent primaries were. The non-populists are being purged from the party and populist loyalty is all that counts. In a populist regime, everyone acts in lockstep because the only foundational principle in populism is Us vs Them. You gotta be with Us...if you're not, you're with Them, and we will cast you out.

So yeah, the Republicans are catching up fast, but the Democrats have several decade's long headstart on them.

I can't think of any one person that the Republican base or party hates as much, has expended as much energy to try to undo, and literally loses their mind over as the Democrats have done and continue to do with Trump.

Can you?

It makes you wonder: what sort of anti-American moron would vote for someone with a history of cheating on his wife, saying stupid things online, and being associated with questionable racial imagery?

Why, you'd have to be biggest bozo on the face of the Earth to vote for someone like that! It should probably make you hang your head in shame and preemptively disqualify you from voicing your opinion on any political topic for the rest of your life.

Right?
