She won't.

The money is going to dry up for the runoff. With the Senate already in control, the Dem Power Players are looking to the next election.

She is done. But she won't go willingly.

The money thing is what I am wondering about. Who is gonna give her money? I hope she has some left after tonight for her sake. Won't be any coming in.

She could concede and then be Lt. Governor for the rest of her life.

Ummm... have I been out of the state so long that this is conventional thinking? You trail at halftime so you quit?

Hope I'm not driving 4 hours and sitting through traffic coming out of Tiger Stadium Saturday so Les can tap out after 3 quarters if he's down a FG.

That sure would have made Woody Jenkins happy back in 96.

But sorry, that's not how it works. Honestly you Cassidy guys are starting to sound like those whiny LSU fans that were worried about Bama getting into the 11/12 Title game.

You honestly think that she will get more than half of the Maness votes?

ETA: By the way TUBA, I wish I could see the look on your face right now. Frickin priceless I'm sure.

Two biggest losers with Landrieu defeat are Mitch and Cedric Richmond.

I said it numerous times on here before. Landrieu has no chance. A vote for her would have been a waste. It should have been about electing the best newcomer possible, but people are just too dumb.

I voted for McMorris.

Shitty analogy.

She's losing by only 4k votes with 96% in. While the majority of the Maness votes would likely go to Cassidy, the question is will those voters come out to vote in the runoff? Low turnout would be in Mary's favor, so no... if I were her I would not concede. Further, I would be using the GOP wins as a rallying cry to get more votes out for me for the runoff.

I do not see a plausible scenario in which Landrieu wins the runoff. If at the end of the evening majority control of the Senate had still been up in the air, then she knew that there would be tons of money invested in the Louisiana race. With national attention directed toward Louisiana, she might have been able to generate some enthusiasm among her base voters. It would have still been a bit of a long shot, but it would have been possible.

Now that GOP control of the Senate is confirmed, there is going to be a major drop-off in the intensity of this race. What is she going to say to motivate her voters? "Vote for me--let's reduce the Republican majority from 54 to 53 seats!!" Is that the rallying cry that would get her elected?

Bottom line: Landrieu is toast.

Mary may also have trouble getting a decent turnout. I think voter fatigue will hurt her more than Cassidy. Voters are more likely to get complacent in support than in being pissed off.

I would agree if tonight hadn't been such a blood bath for the Dems. If she gets off that stupid arse "Louisiana is racist and sexist" platform and starts really pushing the "those mean, scary Republicans are taking over so you neeeeeeeeeeeed me to stand up to them" message, she may be able to scare enough Dems to the polls.
