I love how you get downvoted to hell for actually starting an interesting thread worthy of debate and engagement.

Because this board has been taken over by old school Democrats.

You're giving zero answers beyond "do better".

All while advocating replacing Americans with imported labor.

Eventually there is no place to go Rog.

What is your response then Rog?

Berkeley CS grads are getting no job offers. "Do better!" says the Shrub...

Funny thing a week ago people on this board were supporting importing skilled and educated labor. All it took was two days to blow that up.

I support importing skilled and unique labor. I do not support every entry level position that exists, which is what we have currently.

The welfare state is killing unskilled labor markets in this country and fueling unchecked immigration. Maybe start there.

It's a huge problem and much of the reason behind illegal immigration, but it's a different discussion.

We haven’t had anything remotely resembling capitalism since the early 1900s.

We've been in the 'crony capitalism' stage for majority of our lives and its getting worse.

When you have the 'corporate class' buying influence so openly and doing all they can to squeeze every penny out of everyone they can and openly flaunting this ("You'll own nothing and love it") you'll have blowback, it's the rule of unintended consequences that bites those with big plans in the arse, in this case those consequences will be wage protections. Besides the American workers were never supposed to compete with those making slave wages.

When the investor class starts to force large amounts of people into being renters for life you'll have blowback and we're now seeing the grumbling get too loud to ignore, expect that corporate ownership of single family homes will be made nearly impossible soon.

Why? Because we can, the corporate/investor class doesn't own us, we can impose our will on them and they have to comply.

Listen Rog, unlike you, I have my own business and market to people that can afford expensive things.

You're not winning.

I know he’s not a Trumper and a provocateur, but this is the rare “good thread” on this board. I for one am glad to see it!

If you do, and you understand classical economics, your arguments here are ridiculous

If it is, it isn't because of the OP, which is filled with nonsense.

I just wonder how much impact the “financial floor” welfare creates pushes wages up artificially.

It's the same thing as communism. On paper... looks good. In practice, it's horrible except for those in power.

The interesting part of all of this...

The Blue Collar bloodbath occurred in the 70s when hundreds of thousands of steel and auto workers went down the drain.

The white collar baws made fun of them.

Now the white collar bloodbath is upon us and these baws are throwing a fit, and its fun to watch.

Learn to Code!

The white-collar class derided mass layoffs among the blue-collar workers. It’s about to feel their pain

quote:

A lot of young Americans, especially males, are forgoing traditional college to enter the trades, as welders, plumbers, HVAC technicians and the like.

That’s probably smart. AI won’t be able to replace those jobs.

As Brian Wang notes, robots probably will, one day — but that day is nowhere near as close.

So the bottom line is a lot of white-collar workers are likely to be replaced by machines soon; the fate of blue-collar workers, in a twist, will likely be better for the foreseeable future.
