You do understand Joe blow in all black carrying lockpicking tools at 2am is legal right?

You do understand speeding, drinking and driving and driving without insurance are all crimes right?

Sure it's quicker to speed, quicker to drive drunk rather than sober up but its still illegal

It's not really quicker to drive without insurance, but its still illegal too

Like Waze is intended to get you from A to B as quickly as possible. It is not intended to give you The locations of police, even if that is something you can do. It is a byproduct of the intended usage.

Ok I get your problem now.

You've never used waze

Waze is an app that shows you the locations of police, it's an app designed to help you avoid police either just out of convenience or when you are doing something illegal.

It's solely intended to avoid police, google has an app to help you get from point A to point B quickly, but that's called google maps. Their app waze is for reporting police locations

Explain to the board how Waze is different than google...

Explain how Waze is supposed to help speeding? As opposed to safer driving? And what in gods name does alcohol have to do with either of the apps?

It's been a loong time since academy or any recertification (decade and a half since i wore a badge) but iirc something like 60-70% of arrest warrants are closed through traffic stops. Cops are in fact out there radaring to serve arrest warrants.

I get as a civvie you may not understand that but just because you don't understand reality doesn't make it any less real

Waze is googles app to report police locations. They even incorporate the data from it into google maps to help people get places faster but googles product for getting people from point a to point b is google maps
googles product for reporting police locations is waze

why did you think google had two map products?

No it isn’t. It’s made for and designed for getting to your desired place as fast as possible utilizing live open source information and user reports.

Just because users can report police radar activity does not mean that is what it was designed for

Stop roleplaying as a cop, Paul blart.

You are really an idiot - google has the same info as Waze - they bought it for the technology and people involvement

Same reporting

And no Waze does not have dui checkpoints

No way you were ever police... well on second thought you were one of those...

BTW - Waze was created in Israel .. sheesh

I like how you replied to a comment where I pointed out google owns waze to tell me google bought waze. What next? Are you going to point out that waze was designed to report police checkpoints to help people avoid the police?

You did point out google bought them specifically for that police reporting function

Well you should give waze a try since it's clear you've never used it

I think you should probably also look up the term open source, it doesn't work how you're using it here and waze is absolutely closed source

And you keep telling yourself you have half a braincell, maybe it'll be true. I retired from law enforcement a long time ago, retiring second time this year, this time i'm retiring from tech.

Enjoy arguing on the internet about whether or not apps like waze and iceblock for reporting police locations are illegal maybe the supreme court will reverse their previous rulings where they've said its legal :rotflmao:

??? They’re both perfectly legal.

Waze is just a traffic app used to get you to your destination in an efficient manner and ice block is to give illegals a notice that the block is hot.

I never said otherwise. For a cop, you sure aren’t very good at determining arguments and using evidence to guide your accusations and claims.

But you were never a cop so that checks out.
