How do we know it was only because of legal status? What if he was illegal and on the terrorist watch list? Good with him being on a plane under those circumstances?

Then he should have been flagged in the system and detained by TSA before getting anywhere near the plane.

Should have, but have you seen the audits of TSA and how much bullshite gets through?
Will wait for details, which none have been provided. I seriously doubt ICE diverted a plane simply because an illegal was on it. Thers a lot more to the story, especially with them dressed in tactical gear.
