I wonder how many seats NY/CA would have lost if citizenship question was allowed?

Remember that huge fight over the question. I still dont understand in a sane country, why, when counting citizens, you cant ask if they are a citizen.
Sure some would have lied and said they were a citizen, the majority would have avoided the census all together, for fear of INS visiting.
The true tally would have been astounding with the decades of migration of illegals in those states. Yes TX and to a lesser extent FL, but it would have been interesting to see the dramatic shift in reps from each state.

Cali pretty big. NY probably not as much.

I don’t understand why Trump didn’t just decree that the questionnaire would have the question. It’s not like the left would hate him any less. His base was all for it.

Don’t know about NY. The California answer is four.

I wonder why the house and senate don’t refuse to seat congressmen and senators from states that allow non citizens to vote?

The census is designed to count people in the country, with very limited exceptions, and not citizens.

Are there any states that allow non citizens to vote in federal elections? I know a few do for local and state but I haven’t seen any that do for federal elections.

He tried and the Supreme Court said it wasn’t allowed.

False.
The census asks lots of demographical questions for policy making purposes. The idea citizenship wouldn't be a useful one is retarded

My statement was responding to his saying that the census is there to count citizens. That is simply not the case. Could you also ask that question and not use it for reapportionment? I think the SC would have been fine with that if the Commerce Department had followed proper procedures to add it.
