Tampa Bay area (69 percent for Trump vs. 22 percent for DeSantis); in southwest Florida (80 percent for Trump vs. 7 percent for DeSantis); and in Palm Beach County (65 percent for Trump vs. 33 percent for DeSantis).

Trump worked those areas extremely hard with resources and man hours. It's why he got over 300K more votes than DeSantis did in these areas.

But the reason why Trump is polling that far ahead is due to DeSantis's covid policies.

Here are the words:

F*ck all you COVID history revisionists.

Miami was a nightmare during 2020 & 2021. Only a few of us stood up to the local tyrants & fought back.

RDS stood by & allowed that to happen.

quote:

This place was a nightmare w Insane restrictions, children masked in schools until fall 2021, curfew, etc. Latinos masked up, locked up

quote:

Miami had some of the worst restrictions in all of Florida & RDS did nothing about it. We were fighting to unmask the kids in schools all the way through the fall of 2021.

quote:

And who do you think gave DeSantis a win? trump voters from Miami dade ?? Trump is the only republican to make huge strides with the Latino community

quote:

@mplpodcast305
@RealSKeshel
Trump is WITHOUT a doubt the reason for the MASSIVE seismic shift from Democrat to Republican in Florida and Particularly Miami-Dade. He broke all records and shifted it 22+ percent in 2020!

These are republican voters, like myself, from this state and those areas.

So why are we backing Trump and not DeSantis? That's why. They were horrible in lockdowns.

People were being arrested during Spring Break in 2021. The democrat ran areas used the power given them via DeSantis's emergency order to do that:

quote:

CITY OF MIAMI BEACH
DECLARATION OF A STATE OF EMERGENCY
EXTENDED THROUGH 11:59 P.M. on March 17, 2021

WHEREAS, coronavirus disease 2019 (“COVID-19”), a severe acute respiratory
illness caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus that can spread rapidly from person to person
and cause serious illness or death, constitutes a clear and present threat to the lives,
health, welfare and safety of the people of the City of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, on March 9, 2020, Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order
20-52, declaring a State of Emergency for the State of Florida related to COVID-19;

Now, you can jump up and down and scream at us all you want. But we know what happened in our areas.

The second issue for Desantis is many see what he is doing as disgraceful. Trump personally went to Miami to rally and asked people to vote for DeSantis in 2022 and in 2018. Values maybe different for you, but these are the reasons.

That’s kinda wild, since Trump was the person who initiated the initial lockdown, championed an unsafe vaccine, and refused to get rid of the lockdown king, fig Fauci.

Talk about revisionist history.

DeSantis was the best in the country on Covid, and there really isn’t a close second

I’m sorry about S Fla - sounds like he let local leaders have too much leeway, just like Trump did

North Fla was a different story, at least from my experience at Amelia Island

As far as the loyalty issue - I can’t argue that if it’s how you feel

Me? I’m sick of both sides shitting in Ron and Don - I’m voting Trump, but would be pleased with RDS as the nominee as well

DeSantis did nothing for Covid restrictions until over a year later for South Florida. When Trump references his mishandling, he is referring to West palm, and down the coast to Miami.

Trump got crucified for telling people they don’t have to wear masks and to open their states in the presidential debates.

Ron Desantis is not a visionary on Covid. And ANYONE that was in the White House would have shut down for a month when the world was shutting down and hospitals were overflowing in certain major cities.

Fact

Trump did not lock down our state. DeSantis did. DeSantis also promoted the vaccine.

You can dismiss this if you want to, but that's not going to change peoples minds. Telling us this did not happen isn;t helping.

Florida residents want DeSantis to stay their governor. He's done a great job for them.

Ergo, they prefer Trump

What's funny is you somehow think what you posted isn't factual

Is the CDC/NIH a part of the executive branch?

He makes an excellent unintended point about Trump diehards being drawn into a cult of personality.

The man was utterly politically out maneuvered by Democrats and got beaten by a zombie hiding in his basement who didn't even campaign.

Yeah they cheated but the electorate is so far gone they won't have to in 2024.

Unfortunately, the future lies in states asserting themselves against the federal government.

That's not relevant to this conversation.

This is why Trump is going on about this. He is continuing his effort in these areas.

It's almost like more people vote in a Presidential election than a midterm election

Trump started in on DeSantis BEFORE election day

OnlyTrumpers should avoid bringing up values and loyalty.

What makes you think Ron will get more than the 71 million votes trump got?

Not relevant to this topic.

This was DeSantis that issued the order.

You can say this all you want, but his handling of Covid was better than anyone else in the country - his isolation of elderly and other at risk communities was huge

Maybe he failed in not beating back the local idiots in S Fla with their gestapo restrictions, but he did allow every community to make its own decisions and N Fla was a virtual paradise

No one is perfect, but RDS has done well with Florida

I’d love to see him run this country
