Losing sucks. It truly sucks.

I love living in Louisiana. I’m not giving up on it. You shouldn’t either.

Rispone lost bc The Republican Party in Louisiana is run by idiots. They take two tactics. They talk about abortions (as if it is the only issue) and assume that “conservatives” are automatically motivated; or they think imposing Texas Laws on Louisiana will turn Louisiana into Texas.

Louisiana starts with lots of advantages in the resource department (waterways, access to Gulf of Mexico, Oil & Gas). The food is also great and it’s fun as hell to live in Louisiana. There’s no place like it on earth. BUT despite our myriad advantages, we have problems that Texas doesn’t have. We structural problems in our government (our constitution is insane and unworkable), and a far less advanced and diverse economy (compared to Texas). Tort reform alone isn’t going to solve those things.

The Rs need to look within and develop a true platform to resolve the structural problems with our constitution and address the social problems unique to Louisiana that are hurting our economy BEFORE we move on to trying to xerox Texas’s civil code. using that platform the R party needs to recruit and vet candidates and run on something other than - he’s prolife.

The fault isn’t with Rispone. Or Abraham. Or even Jindal. The fault lies with a local political party run by a bunch of hacks.

Like Chicago, San Francisco, L.A., and New York? Self awareness, usually lacking in your posts, is once again.... lacking.

Myriad advantages (all listed), but to reiterate:

1. Cultural advantages (food, music, literature);

2. Geographic advantages (Mississippi River, Atchafalaya ecosystem, warm weather, and proximity to the Gulf of Mexico). These support cultural advantages like food, and hunting and fishing- but they also provide significant (squandered) economic advantages (oil and gas and shipping).

3. More on culture - Louisiana peeps are ingenious and creative precisely bc of our live and let live mentality. We’re not scared to try something new or different. We would have no energy supply OR refinement if it weren’t for a bunch of coonasses who work hard, are good at welding stuff, and using their creativity and ingenuity to figure shite out. I can’t tell you how many of my friends spent time in Saudi Arabia and other such places bc their parents were showing the rest of the world how to explore for and use energy.

4. Energy supply. Try doing anything without power.

That’s ALOT of advantages. That cascade around to other things.

We’re the incubator for half the stuff we need to grow or make in the country. Louisiana needs to start owning that.

Sure it is, Rispone was a terrible candidate, had zero vision, and was disingenuous. The fault lies with those people that voted for him over Ralph. But he is a businessman that has a Trump sticker.

Agree with much of this.

Rispone’s #1 problem was that he was not an articulate speaker AT ALL. Kept repeating the exact same thing. It got old. He was the better choice for growth though. Voters love articulate speakers. It is why a clueless BO served 2 Presidential terms.

In politics, history has proven that great communication skills will always override content.

That’s not true. His entire platform was a big picture vision, as opposed to specifics. I have no problem with that - bc specifics are for the legislature. He’s just got to make sure that the “specifics” are sufficient to reach his larger vision. That’s why he’s a good, and wealthy businessman. He doesn’t get sucked down the rabbit hole.

He was just terrible at communicating his vision.

This versus, JBE, who will micromanage the status quo - with no vision (that’s what lawyers do, so it’s not surprising). He got elected bc he was a better communicator. That’s it.

You guys just need to educate your friends and try to get as many voters as possible for the good guys. Sounds like you guys need a better candidate next time. It’s crazy how bad the republican candidate’s are in a lot of states. The RNC needs to do a better job helping sone states get candidates. John James May need to move to another state because he is a good candidate but his state is full or racist and morons.

I’ll remember this statement every time I read one of your posts, particularly as it relates to local politics. No positive change ever comes from a thought process like this.

i'm going to give some advice to the LAGOP: you are losing the ability to win big elections by being unfashionable to identify with publicly in cities. there was a VERY large "i couldn't possibly vote for Rispone" messaging within the urban cultures across LA. this is now 2 elections in a row, so it's a trend. you continue to lose that battle and you can waive good by to any consistency in winning the Gov

people forget LA just flipped to the GOP recently

I don't think anyone here is claiming that Louisiana or it's cuisine stacks up against North Dakota's.
