Well, we survived the impending Ice Age from the 70s. We will survive this global warming issue now.

There are at least 50 such failed predictions. Don’t worry, though. This time they’re right.

Can't remember the year but I was a freshman or sophomore in HS, so '93, '94.
I saw a documentary on PBS or something that absolutely terrified me. Dad was a devout liberal (like a JFK liberal, not a Clinton liberal) so he was always pretty conscientious of new environment studies and stuff of the like.
I watched this show with him and they were saying that the Ozone layer was so far gone that the ice cap and glacial melt was going to have coastal Florida, parts of Texas and all of south Louisiana would be underwater by 2015. It literally scared the he'll out of me, even not living within 500 miles of the nearest saltwater body.
I took my most recent trip to south Louisiana in 2017. Still looked exactly like it did my first trip there in '97.

I remember paying two fifty for a can of ozone depleting freon to put in my truck a/c myself. Now you can't even buy eco-friendly freon that I know of. Have to take it to a dealer and pay a small fortune to get it done.

Was your dad a twat?
Although I did not agree with many of his political stances, that's just one thing. And by today's standards he would have been a liberal leaning Republican (if he were alive he wouldn't admit that, but it's true). He used to make fun of feminists they'd show on the news. A LOT And he never believed that Wild Bill didn't bang those women. He supported WJC as president but called the lie for what it was as soon as he heard "I - did - not- have - sexual- relations - with - that - woman".

Carlin is right. We'll wipe ourselves out and the planet will be just fine. Some of us don't want that to happen.. some don't care
