Lol? Also John Adams:
quote:
As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion, - as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen, - and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Legalism (secular or religious) is for immoral, non thinking people who require systems because they've destroyed their own intuition.
Rather depends upon one's perspective, does it not?

I love hearing this phrase uttered from "red-pilled" atheists and libertarians. Meanwhile...
I am reminded of a quote from Barry McGuire (Christian song writer ...) when he was speaking to someone who said Christians were just brainwashed.. McGuire basically said everyone is brainwashed its just that Christians have chosen who washes their brain...

The Church has been experiencing a great falling away
Its a social club with laws and rules.
Its fake spirituality. I honestly feel most have burned their ability to understand their own natural tendencies and intiution.

Over thinking, over analyzing, separates the body from the mind
Withering my intuition, missing opportunities and I must
Feed my will to feel my moment
Drawing way outside the lines

There is so much more and
Beckons me
To look through to these
Infinite possibilities
As below so above and beyond I imagine
Drawn outside the lines of reason
Push the envelope
Watch it bend

No.. you just have created your own religion who’s doctrine is griping and complaining about religion.
Lolz these threads are always started by some religious type ranting about something unreligious people are doing. I’m just responding to it

Intuition is what makes you human. Secular autists don't have this ability.
You're stuck with lists of laws and regulations to guide your morality.

By this same logic, Christians worship more than God.
If you judge Christianity by those who practice it- you are doing yourself a great disservice. It’s like determining that Beethoven was a terrible composer, after watching a 4yr old bang away Fur Elise on his Casio.

The thing is, true "religion" doesn't require defending. Its a benefit, and those who experience it have a peace that others will not.
BUt most religious people don't understand this either.

If you start telling me I have to stop eating hamburgers because Beethoven said so, I'm going to lose it.

Churches capitalize on cheap, legalistic religion. They attract systematic humans just like secular systems.

I have never understood the PRIDE that religious folks take in just BELIEVING something for which there exists ZERO objective evidence.
Huh?? "Zero objective evidence"? That's some serious clownage. And maximum anti-intellectualism not to connect the easiest of dots.
You mean elements and designs of life, self-replicating DNA and the material elements ALL created themselves??
(But sad just the same)
Scripture has plenty to say about the "Blind" and the "Foolish."
You say, "But...but...I've read the Bible!! I know the Bible more and better than Christians!"
"Reading" does NOT equate to "understanding."
Yoo cannot "see" because you are spiritually blinded. So sayeth the same Scripture you claim to read repeatedly -- ergo, ye can't understand a whit.
Psalm 19
The Heavens declare the Glory of God...
(Try re-reading again. See if you understand it.)

Do you believe in objective morality? (Things are good or bad- regardless of who is observing them) If so, where does it come from?

Religion is the vessel for the Idea that the essence of Perceived Reality is Spiritual. And that all thereafter - Energy, Matter, Time, ad infinitm - is a derivative of a Self Aware Spirit. I.e., God (with all the baggage that word infers). And that Self Aware, Spiritual Entity, is Loving. Love being a 'Feeling'; as Feeling is the cognitive basis for Awareness.
Further, as a derivative 'child' of said Entity/God, we are given 'free will' via "The Word"/'Rules' that govern all (even God, "in the beginning was the WORD...") to determine out ultimate 'Feeling', and derivate from said Feeling, our subjectively Perceived Reality. One might consider the implications therein, before choosing any particular Idea/Value for worship, and a basis for one's perceived reality/feelings.
What one believes, determines how one feels. One and done is the worst kind of "slavery", IMO. "Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose". They can have my share of no-god belief. I would wish such 'good luck', but since the end therein is cast in stone (eternal non-existence), well...good luck anyway. Maybe and end of life sit down with Jesus will sway the heart.
Rebellious adolescence, IMO.

Excellent explanation. I would add its an interpretation thereof...
I believe "God" is everything and everything is God. We are human therefore susceptible to corruption.
Spirituality is a guiding life principle to me, if there's an afterlife...awesome. But I believe we are just energy, and God is the whole of everything.
One day science may be able to identify the 90%+ matter in the universe and decide there is a collective consciousness

Christianity isn't unique in making special claims about their religion or their flavor of god. It's just as banal as the rest.
This is patently false. The vast majority of scholars agree on the life, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ as historical fact.
