Blanket layoffs, then bring back the ones you really need. Only way to do this.

So you want to ruin their lives and then after you figure out you needed them all along, go ask them to come back?

Need to be thousands more. The government has become a "make work" operation which does absolutely nothing for the American people...it only enriches those who work for the Borg.

This and this. The saving of payroll is just gravy. Its the fact these people make work, and what work do they make...

Ways to spend needlessly trillions of dollars. Ways to add 10s of thousands of regulations (read laws) that ruin productivity and economic gains for the country. Simple things like changing the water flow on a shower head, or new emissions, holding up pipeline approvals, lng plants, fks up entire industries.

Seems like a pretty big blanket of layoffs so far

Trump hasn't hit the total number that Obama reduced the workforce by yet.

If they make less, why the bitching and moaning?
8 months full pay severance.
If I were offered 8 months severance, I'm out the door.
Because, I'm not an overpaid piece of shite.

A lot of these are friends/family of the politicians in Washington and deep state

LIKE THIS:
The salary paid to Nancy Pelosi's niece for her role within a federal government agency has come under scrutiny, including from one of the nominated heads of the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Elon Musk.

Alexis Pelosi joined the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in early 2022 and reportedly earned over $181,000 in 2024, according to a non-governmental database that used public records.

Well that would be enough for me but you fukers are also lazy as hell. It's about time you went out and made a real living. And President Trump is giving you that opportunity. Dont worry, it'll be good for you.

what we object to is paying for a bloated government that does not produce marketable goods and services. The truth is that the private sector pays for everything. Much of government just takes money only to just move it around. Its like paying another 50% tax on all your money you take from an ATM

All government agencies should be conducting a structured review of their operations for mission, policy programs and employee necessity. It should be a part of every operation involving payment of compensation to an employee - government or private. Private sector does it every day, why not federal government.

In the government world, that accountability for every dollar spent should be even greater as the revenue that pays for programs and personnel comes from the taxpayers (or roughly 60% of households in this country). Unfortunately, our government and leaders fail to acknowledge that accountability and think the system operates in reverse with us owing them (government).

The posts of some in this thread make it seem like there is lifetime entitlement for a federal worker - lifetime job, work from home, great benefits and paid as much as private sector. In my view, nothing is farther from the truth as none of those things are guaranteed in the private sector.

It’s about reducing the size of government. The smaller the federal government the more freedom we can enjoy. Glad I could clear that up for you.

Once again. The "size" of the government is the same as 1960. It's the spending that's the issue. Until those habits are changed this means nothing.

Not once have I seen anyone bring up the political affiliations of the workers…imagine continuing to ignore the fact our government can run just as well with 100s of thousands of less workers and you think the fact someone is correcting that is an issue.

The people upset about this are the same ones who support sexually mutilating their sons and illegals raping their daughters.

Sick fricks.

I'm having a tough time believing that one. A lot of departments/agencies we have today didn't even exist in 1960.

I sorta doubt that's true but the point is valid. The number of federal workers is only one metric for how "big" government is, and probably not one of the more important ones.

One of our "habits" is apparently this concept of government employment for life, and DOGE may help snap us out of that mindset. That's a good habit to change if we want to focus on fiscal discipline, is it not?
