Ever seen the effects of the nuclear option? Seems like a bit more than saber rattling.

Every major politician you mean. For a very, very long time.

Attacking the media doesn't make you a dictator, but it happens to be something dictators also do.

It's not.

The standoff between Kennedy and Khrushchev was more than saber rattling.

Sure, but I’d argue some a lot more than others. And yes, it doesn’t make you a dictator (which is what I said), but it something all dictators do.

I’ve also never heard any other president say they want to go after the libel laws (outside Trump), but I could be wrong about that.

well clearly you havent been paying attention

by not immediately resigning, he is ignoring the will of the MSM and liberal fascists so you cant get more dictatorial then that.

how dare he follow the will of the people and full fill his campaign promises, it just doesnt get any worse then that

Well the media also goes after some politicians more than others...and others they fawn over. You can't tell me the tone of the media is the same today as it was two years ago. That can kind of make a politician get irritable when there's such a disparity in coverage.

Then why bring it up at all? Correlation does not equal causation.

Every president gets attacked, only one wants to go after the libel laws and started the “fake news award”. I’m sorry but he’s not the same.

Other dictator esque tendancies:
-Blur the lines of authority, he constantly goes after the fbi and cia. He’s also gone after the DOJ.
-saying goodell should FORCE players to stand. Nothing says democracy like forced patriotism.
-installing his family members in positions of power.
-not disclosing his financial interests, we still haven’t seen his taxes.

Those are all dictator esque. Again, nobody is really saying he’s a dictator, but if you’re looking for things he’s done/is actively doing that dictators have done, they aren’t hard to find.

He's their boss. They work for him. Not the other way around.

He voiced an opinion, if a stupid one. Did he threaten Goodell with punitive action for not forcing the players to stand?

-installing his family members in positions of power.

Like every other President has? And he is NOWHERE near the level of nepotism that existed in the 1800s and early 1900s. Were all those administrations dictatorships as well?

quote:

not disclosing his financial interests, we still haven’t seen his taxes.

Is this a requirement to hold the office? Have all Presidents prior to Trump done this?

These all have been done by previous administrations. Again, are all these previous administrations dictator-esque as well?

ETA: The reason I'm hammering on this topic is that we as a country have let hyperbole take over our language. Words have a specific meaning.

A dictator must meet very specific criteria to be a dictator. Otherwise he's just a shitty politician.

Trump is a shitty politician. He's not a dictator in any way, shape, or form.

Did you bother reading what he had to say and why he said it? Or did you just se him say mean things and thought to yourself "hey that isn't cool"

Standing for the anthem isn't patriotic. Kneeling or sitting in protest while its playing is pretty disrespectful to those who would or have died defending it.

I'm sorry you can't see that distinction.

No different than what previous admins have done

Not disclosing your own private tax returns to the public is dictatoresque??

It's called fear mongering. As long as they keep it going at a high level, they feel justified in any actions they take.

Nazis felt justified in killing Jews because of the nonstop fear mongering against Jews. Those dumb bastards probably thought the Jews were destroying everything, and they had to be stopped.

Stalin loyalists felt justified in ratting out their friends and family for wrongthink. The fear mongering of the pravda and government officials led the loyalists to believe that the wrongthinkers were going to destroy everything.. they have to be punished.

Just saying.. nonstop fear mongering by most msm and government officials has led to very dark times in human history.

So, in your mind, the people speaking out against the fake news the media arm of the Nazis or Mussolini's fascists, or Castros communists...they are the wanna be dictators, right?
