100% agree. That's why I am not hating on him so much. I think at his core he is good and stands for America First... but he was co-opted by heavy hitter establishment power brokers to be the Trump-killer and he is bound by their money and their wishes. Washington D.C. is a whole different ball game and the real leaders are not in the White House or the Capitol right now.

I love all these Desantis supporters on this thread saying I somehow hate Ron Desantis.

This is not a thread about who is the better candidate or who would make a better president.

I like Desantis. I think he was used by other people who realized that Trump’s base was so devoted that there was no way to have him lose the primary. So they convinced Desantis to run.

The GOPe recruited a popular, effective governor with the same or similar worldview as Trump and sold him as an alternative - “Trump without the baggage.” They did it not bc these GOPe assholes believed it would work, and Desantis would win- but they KNEW he wouldn’t be able to win the nomination without Trump’s hardcore support. The GOPe put RDS in this unwinnable situation bc they also knew it would fracture people who ORDINARILY agree with each other and depress them from turning out in the general.

This whole fricking thread is proof positive that their plan worked.

The GOPe knows they’re stuck with Trump as their nominee- they just don’t want him to become the president. Example - Liz Cheney.

I'm being baited into testy exchanges, so going to ease up and not engage in that stuff. I don't hate Ron and I would have without a doubt voted for Ron in the general had he gotten the nomination. So, I'm not a OnlyTrumper. I am an unabashed Trump supporter for 2024 though. Sorry, not sorry.

I don’t really have a problem with someone wanting to support Trump. Personal preference is part of our political system.

There’s simply no need to misrepresent another candidate or make up a narrative without evidence about them in order to exercise your personal preference.

Now do the part where they tricked Trump’s team into personal attacks on DeSantis.

The Establishment is almost omnipotent.

This. Very few, if any, on this site have a problem with people supporting trump. It’s the cultishness of some that are the problem. The ones who cast their vote on who the nastiest campaigner is as if they think campaigning is a Presidents only job.

Stand on your record and your policies. That’s how I decide who I vote for.

RobbBobb didn’t have shite.

A PAC gave DeSantis $2500 in 2012. That was his evidence.

It’s so stupid, they’re 1-4 in elections, and they somehow think it’s going to work for them this cycle.
This time it will be different.
It’s fascinating to watch a political Party commit suicide. It’s just a shame that America is going to be the collateral damage.
