Does that make me bad. He lived off one moment of glory and was a dbag the rest of his life. No respect.

I think John Lewis can be more productive now than he was a week ago.

His actions decades ago were honorable. But let’s face it, people like him thrived to keep racism relevant where it doesn’t exist in order to get rich. And for that he’s a fricking piece of shite.

You little white prog figs want to do disagree? Walk your white arse through some projects that were created by your democrat overlords and you’ll experience racism like you will never ever see at a mall, or grocery store, or Walmart....name the place

That guy looked pissed his whole life. I was outside his office door the day before Trump inauguration. Took a picture of his name plate. Should have walked in and asked if he needed a ride to the inauguration.

His body got across the Selma Bridge but his mind never did.
He did shite to help his Congressional district and that is on him.

Regardless of your political beliefs....ask yourself this. Would you have had the courage to walk across that bridge?

I didn’t agree with the man politically or with his desired vision of the country, but make no mistake much of what he took part in with MLK took courage.

Get that reasonable bullshite outta here bro.

Ok, three things:

-I'm kidding about the above

-I agree

-And this is an unpopular viewpoint

Ok, maybe a fourth thing:

-He did act or fail to act in ways that tainted that honorable legacy a little later in life.

When I lived in the ATL back in the late 80s and early 90s I came to realize all the crew that got famous marching with MLK were just grifters and con men getting rich off being who they were. The only one that was somewhat likable was Hosea Williams, and that is because he humored people with his numerous escapes from DUI convictions. Joseph Laury had as nasty a personality as anyone I've ever encountered. John Lewis was who he was, and MLK's widow was the nastiest of them all. Any Delta flight attendant who worked back in the 70s, 80s, and 90s have stories about her and her traveling companion who told everyone that "Mrs. King is NOT to be spoken to."
Just an aside: When Sean Hannity was a talk show host in Atlanta, with the exception on Coretta, he figuratively was constantly engaged in a french kiss with all these people's a$$ crack. It's why I don't take him seriously now.

He was one of tens of thousands of courageous good-hearted principled men who helped change the inherited culture of segregation for the other millions of citizens.

Is owed unending respect for that.

quote:

was a dbag the rest of his life.

True enough - he bartered the good will he had earned for a life of a puppet living in luxury and diverting his energy and lackluster intellect for putting the people he has ostensibly 'rescued' into a far more unassailable prison than they had been in before. He was a prime mover in helping LBJ achieve the DEMs dream of "owning the n-vote for the next 200 years.'

For that he should not have been given other than perfunctory recognition as an 'early civil rights leader' and left the celebratory bullshite for his close family and friends.

He went out with nancy pelosi and her huge comedy gavel after the ACA passed and tried to goad tea partiers into saying something "racist", could not, then lied and said they did and was called out on the lie because he was surrounded by cell phones the whole time and nothing of the sort happened.

He was a fraudulent conspiracy theorist/hoaxer just like al shapton.

The fact that that is not mentioned anywhere when it happened in front of every media outlet in the country pissed me off.

Dems like making people into something they weren’t.

Lewis isn’t the angel he’s being portrayed as. He was a corrupt race baiter.
