Quite the melt because a fictional movie casted black people and gays

I used to have a crush on her back in the day. That kind of makes me feel gay now.

But why?
Why cast it this way?

Totally fine if that's their true character but having them in King Arthur and Tolkien movies makes no sense.

The academy awards have a 4 part DEI requirement to be considered
As of the 96th Academy Awards (2024), films competing for Best Picture must meet two of four new Representation and Inclusion Standards aimed at enhancing on-screen diversity, crew inclusion, and industry access.
Core Requirements for Best Picture Eligibility:To be eligible, a film must meet two out of the four following standards:
Standard A: On-Screen Representation, Themes, and Narratives.
At least one lead or significant supporting actor is from an underrepresented racial/ethnic group.
OR at least 30% of all actors in secondary/minor roles are from at least two underrepresented groups (women, LGBTQ+, racial/ethnic group, or disabled).
OR the main storyline/theme centers on an underrepresented group.
Standard B: Creative Leadership and Project Team-
At least two creative leadership/department heads (e.g., Director, Cinematographer, Composer) are from underrepresented groups, with at least one from an underrepresented racial/ethnic group.
OR at least six other crew/technical positions are from an underrepresented racial/ethnic group.
OR at least 30% of the total film crew is from underrepresented groups.
Standard C: Industry Access and Opportunities
The film’s production company or studios must provide paid apprenticeships or internships to underrepresented groups.
OR the production/distribution company offers training or work opportunities in production, post-production, marketing, or distribution to underrepresented groups.
Standard D: Audience Development
The studio or production company has multiple in-house executives from underrepresented groups in marketing, publicity, and distribution.

Right.
It’s forced.
But why force these castings?
Point is, there’s a million ways to cast trans, unattractive minorities, weak bodies, misfits, etc…
Forcing these “characters” into established lore and great mythologies is a deliberate attack on traditions and honored story telling.
This adds nothing to the story. It only takes away.
It’s not “creative” license.
It’s a fck you to whatever tradition they resent and hate. It’s 100% a melt, but from the creators and actors.

Spot on. Consider the odyssey .. one of, if not the most cited peices of literature of all time. Don't need some hollywood assholes take on the odyssey, it's right there, in black and white.. straight from Homer
I did see that the odyssey was the first recorded instance of a man telling a woman to shut up

No one will be cast in future movies because they will all be AI soon. Hollyweird is about to learn a hard lesson. The machine will drop them in a hot second over profit margins.
