How would have any powerful civilization in history tolerated "protestors" like todays?

Hundreds of illegal foreigners who snuck into the country, waving foreign flags, attacking police and military personal and installations.
How would ancient Greece or Rome dealt with a crowd like that?
How about England or France in the middle ages?
How about China or Saudi Arabia in the the present day?
There would have been no harsh language or arrests. Every one of them would be slaughtered by authorities within hours, justifiably.
Foreign invaders violently attacking you isn't a protest. They are emboldened by knowing the response will be milquetoast and that Democrats and the media will defend them from consequences.
Any country that refuses to fight for its own survival will be erased from existence in the blink of an eye.

If a bunch of Americans snuck into Mexico illegally and then began attacking the Mexican police while waving American flags and chanting anti-Mexican slogans, would you really be surprised by the consequences they would certainly face?
Why is America required to tolerate this sort of abuse when other nations wouldn't for a second.
