You really do not grasp the fact that the vast majority of those people would have voted for Donald DUCK if he received the GOP nomination and were voting AGAINST Hillary and not affirmatively FOR the Orange Buffoon, do you?
Also, most people voted against the absolute insanity that has become the mainstream left. They have no platform and the party has been taken over by complete nutjubs. Hell, the mainstream left makes Trump loon mature and statesmanlike.

But regardless of his (purported) campaign strategy, the VAST majority of people who voted for Trump were either (1) straight-ticket GOP voters who would have supported anyone who won the nomination or (2) people voting AGAINST the Dem platform in general and HRC in particular.
Sure, Trump brought in some new voters in purple states, and they probably even made the difference in the election, but in absolute numbers there really were not that many of them.

You realize this applies to virtually every election, right?
One of Trump's biggest strengths during the election was motivating his base to go out and vote.
