Of course it is not the first time for New Era Baptist Church in Birmingham running signs like this but if challenged, how can they be allowed to maintain their tax exempt status?
Short Story on It

Because no body cares what baptists do.

obviously a black Baptist church which means you are obviously a racist
or are you so ignorant that you don't know that there are different Baptist organizations?
Nope, you are just a racist.

Different church, same question.

regardless of the the pictures. Churches being tax havens has been one of the most abused systems in this country for years and it has allowed them to prey on the public. All churches should be taxed.

My understanding is there was created or recognized a special IRS consideration for Black churches allowing more political involvement because they play a larger role in the community than just religion, they brought the African- American out of slavery.
But be that as it may, the prohibition on Church lobbying/politics prohibits a substantial portion of its revenue from going into that effort. (I think the amount is between 10-15%) That cheap arse sign would not be substantial if they only got 1% out of the flock, if it was a white, black or asian church.

Does that sign mention anything about voting? I can't read the fine print...
I do know for a fact several years ago a Baptist church where I live was told to stop putting those "where the candidates stand" flyers in their bulletins or lose their tax exempt status...
So, find me something remotely similar or are you implying that churches have to support abortion in order to remain apolitical?

I would like to see that exception in writing... or at least a link...

Under the current system, I think they should lose tax exempt status.
Of course, I also do not think that ANY churches should be tax exempt.

Black churches can’t let their members escape the plantation.

Advocating on issues is completely allowable under the IRS code for non-profits. Advocating for candidates or parties is not.
You’re welcome, you fricking moron.

I am not willing to go that far BUT I think it should be very easy to lose their tax exempt status...

You’re probably really big on the 1st amendment.

Congratulations on pulling an entire post entirely from your arse.

Well we have the “non-profit tax exempt” Council on Aging in Baton Rouge producing flyers with pictures of candidates and lists of how to vote handed to seniors as they put them on busses rented with tax dollars to drive them to the polls. Then they give the seniors t-shirts after they vote. So there is that.

You’re probably really big on religion not being involved with government.
You do away with property tax exemptions for churches and you will have to allow churches to become political.
No taxation without representation.
I’m sure all of this will escape the fallow ground that is your brain.
